It's always like this... NK snatches American citizens regardless of if they were in NK or not. After that, an envoy comes from the US, negotiate, and they're released. This happens to Japanese citizens, and SK citizens. They just want to show they can do it, and probably show their own people they have the ability to hold outsiders hostages, and also show compassion. Friggin horseshit.
Well the last time a former US President went over there to meet with the NK leader (Kim Il sung) he bought the rice paddy less than 6 months later. Here's to hoping we can keep that tradition alive.
