Clipping Low pass filters on GF3?

Ok, I've seen the pics on what to do in the anandtech article. However, do you have to solder the points where you clip the resistors? From the article it seems like no you wouldn't have to, but logically thinking, it seems like you would have to do it so you make a complete electrical circuit.

every post i saw where some one has done this hack no soldering was done...just a cut and snip..........try a search of old posts having to do with the mod.....

I have just done this. There is no soldering involved. Just follow the instructions in the article and you will be ok. My Visiontek GF3 Ti 500 was crisp to begin with, but I can definatley see a difference. I and using a 22" Samsung 1200NF monitor (1600 x 1200 x32 @85) connected via BNC cable.

I acutally used my girlfriends cuticle (the skin above the fingernail) clippers. (She wasn't here when I was doing this The capacitors came right off very easily.

2D is perfect now. nuff said.

Sorry, I'm not clipping anything off of my GeForce3 Ti 200 for anything or anyone. This is a GeForce3 and not a stupid TNT2. No chance in Hell will I do it.

yep, just clip them off. They come off very easily so don't accidentally try an incorrect one I just placed the tip of the clippers on the side of the capacitor and they practically came off by themselves. My Visiontek GF3 Ti 500 had the first row already removed. (The article points this out also)
