Closest phone to a galaxy s7.

What is something close to specs/size of a s7 that's not made by samsung.

I owner a s4 and now a note 4. I thought bigger screen and spen would be the world but I don't care about it. I miss the smaller s4. Both s4 note 4 under my ownership were rooted and different rom. Didn't like factory touch wiz nor the delay of new OS.

What I like about the s7 is size, screen, microSD.

Is there anything out there or will soon be out(by xmas) that comes close?

Note 7 looks great but I don't want bigger 5.5 inch screen. The nexus 6p is really tempting me at 400$ tags but it 5.7 and lack of microSD. I can give into one or the other but not both.

I like my roms and ability to change when I want. I'm pretty sure tmobile bootloader are also locked now

There is going to be two new nexus that should be out in the next 30 days roughly, at the latest they will be out in the next 2 months.

What the specs and price will be are currently rumor. I do not follow the detailed rumors since I just rather wait for the device announcement but some other people who follow the rumors more closely than I do can tell you the projected specs.

It's been a while since a Nexus phone has been compact. The 5X is laughably large for it's screen size IMO and I don't think HTC is going to change that.

Otherwise the new Nexus phones are worth waiting for to see.

It's been a while since a Nexus phone has been compact. The 5X is laughably large for it's screen size IMO and I don't think HTC is going to change that.

Otherwise the new Nexus phones are worth waiting for to see.

Rumor has it the nexus phone will come in 2 models this year that go by the code names of S1 and M1. The S1 will be the cheaper and smaller phone with a 5" screen, while the M1 will have a 5.5" screen.

I am not going to speculate on rumors much anymore for we will soon see the device announcement.

The answer to this is probably no since Google has purposefully not included SD support in the native android AOSP builds and those are features added by the OEMs. In addition its been what 5 years since nexus phones had sd cards? (only the 1st nexus, the nexus one had upgradable sd storage)

I had a nexus 1. Love that phone, good size with the little trackball. So possibly nexus line is what I should look into.

Anything current out? LG offering?

Htc 10 looks really good. I'm going to swing by a few stores to check this.

S7/edge last I saw had locked bootloaders. Even tmobile versions feel into this. I'm not the biggest fan of the software/UI. But the specs of the s7 is nearly perfect for me.

If you're looking for unlocked bootloaders, the best you can probably do is the OnePlus Three or the ZTE Axon 7. Unfortunately, both of them are 5.5 inch screens (Samsung AMOLED panels at least) so they may be too big for you. Both $400 though.

When researching phones and etc. I found that while my note 4 was lacking in some, it fits many of my needs but more importantly it keeps $400+ in my pocket.

If the 6p hits 250$ on BF2016 I might do that or if the sailfish or w/e the smaller nexus is a solid phone I'll get that.

Not a bad idea (Nexus is #1 for developer stuff) but those Nexus devices might be expensive. You might be better off with the OP3. RIght now the Nexus 6 is selling for $200, and the 6P is around $300. I don't see them getting much lower even when the new ones drop, looks like the "flagship killer" devices already forced the price drops.
