The spin cycle seems to be working. What else could cause the clothes to come out soaked? Clogged drain?

Try opening and closing the door and see if the machine starts up again. Sometimes during the spin cycle, if it gets unbalanced, the washer will stop.

Are you SURE the spin cycle is working? I mean have you visibly seen it engaged? Open it during the spin cycle. I bet you it SOUNDS like it's working but it's not.

Maybe you put too much clothes in the washing machine. When I do that to mine, the clothes end up coming out soaked, so try and test out that theory.

Same thing happened here a few weeks ago. No water was standing in the tub, but clothes were soaked. Turns out we need a new basket drive (this is a 3 year old Whirlpool).

$65 service call + $25 labor on service call + $90 part + $100 labor = my ass hurts.

It was a light load. It works sometimes because I just did another load and it worked.

If there is no standing water when they are wet, it's not spinning. If it's intermittent it could be a slipping belt.

If it was a light load, lower the water level used. At school, I did a light load before spring break and my clothes came out soaked; of course, there is no water level adjuster on these commercial washers. Normally, when I fill up the washer, my clothes will be wet, but they won't be soaking because there are other clothes to soak up the water.

My daughter's machine was doing this...after it was done, clothes were still very wet...she had a leaky hose between the pump and drain, so I took the part out to change it for her, and found why it wouldn't spin the water out very well...her "significant other" didn't want to cut the drain hose to the right length, so it had a slight kink in it between the machine and the wall...just enough that the pump wouldn't push all the water up and out...I cut the hose to the right length, used the extra piece to reinforce the kinked area, (used some zip-ties to hold it in place) and voila...

Try putting yourself into a plastic bag and the hop into the washer. Have someone turn it on and that way you can make sure that the spin cycle is working!

Or I could just open the top and press the button in with my finger.

i'd say there's probably too much water staying in your clothes.

that's probably your problem.

see the machine would know what you where up to and fire up the spin cycle. only by fooling the machine into thinking that you are a pair of socks will the machine feel safe enough to stop the spin cycle. then you will know that you are screwed. Call maytag and get a pro to tame the machine back into submission!

Could be your drain pipe/drain outlet is partly clogged with lint.

Could be your drain pump is dying.

Could be your basket isn't spinning...but that's an easy one to check as you know.

jam something in your lid safety switch(i took mine out, zip-tied it and reinstalled), and take a look at whats going on inside. (out of balance, not pumping, slipping, etc..)
