That's all I needed. It looks cool enough, i was just afraid it'd be skewed more towards Lost where you have absolutely NO idea what's going even at the end.

I know it makes me sound pathetic, but if I'd been told you never see the monster, I probably wouldn't go. I hate this "use your imagination so we don't have to do anything that makes sense" movement in Hollywood movies lately.

oh how I look forward to the day that more info is actually revealed regarding the smoke monster. pretty awesome thing though, they got a lot of crazy kind of paranormal stuff going on in that show and its awesome.
at least they revealed the whole fence thing the others developed to prevent it from crossing.

i'll let ya know once I see it. Supposedly, they don't really spend too much time explaining the history of the monster and mostly focus on its mayhem that its causing.


oh, and anyone who has seen the trailers.. you know the one scene, in the tent hospital area, and you can hear screaming and you see silhouettes through the side of the tent? does anyone else see a resemblance to a polar bear in that shadows there? (speaking of Lost)

I only use the user reviews meter at RT.

Generally anything over 50% on the user reviews meter is worth seeing in my experience.

It's at 63% now. Eh, doesn't really matter to me, it isn't being released for another two days and I couldn't care less what a bunch of critics say. Unless it was me reviewing the movie, they're not going to have the same tastes and likes/dislikes in a movie as I do so their opinions don't mean much.

The preview looked good enough and if Abrams is attached to it, that's more to like for me. :thumbsup:

Just to get a little bitchy, only 80 minutes? Thats kind of annoying I don't like it how movies are so damn short these days. Maybe if they didn't put 20 minutes of previews beforehand it would be OK, but given the cost of movies it would just be nice to get a little more movie and a little less previews. I mean TBH you got the torrents to compete with here, and I don't have to drive out of my way to watch a bunch of previews to torrent the movie, so the only real advantage to a theater is its superior quality, but is that worth 10$ and 40 minutes of driving + previews, I am not so sure.

OK, maybe if I wasn't a loser and had hot chicks to watch movies with this would be different, but I don't so It isn't.

I'll agree with this, I've always thought Rotten Tomatoes was a waste of time. They are almost always overly harsh, and I seldom agree with the movie reviewers because most of them are arrogant snobs who don't find entertainment in anything except amazing Cinema

Hiding the monster is a good thing in my book. Too many movies show the best/major parts of the movie in the trailer.

Now if I could only find a theater to see it in. Marcus Theatres isn't showing it because they don't want to pay Paramount what they're asking for the film. They did the same thing with Sweeney Todd.

There's only 3 other theaters in my town that are showing it and they aren't very good.

RT has failed me so bad at times I use it now mostly just to get the gist of the story. I bought Children of Men because of RT and I'm having a hard time forgiving them for that. :|

so you mean the critics failed you. and oh wait, what's that? you should always expect that from critics and take their opinions with a grain of salt.
And there could be a movie that had an overall rating of 99% from over 100 reviews, and you may STILL hate the movie. Why? You just happen to hold a different opinion. Don't hate on RT for that.
