this is easily one of the worst movies i've ever seen.
even balls of fury was better, and that movie completely sucked.

Children of Men is a fantastic movie. Even if you only look at it from a cinematographic point of view, it's that much better.

Children of Men was a horrible movie. I've lent it out to 5 people and they all hated it. No one else in the office would take it. Argh, don't get me started on that movie.

I heard you might want to pay close attention to the last homevideo clip at the end, don't focus on the couple but the ocean behind the ferris wheel, supposed to have some "interesting event"
Does anyone know what happened in that scene? I didn't notice anything other than the couple.
A satellite falls from the sky and hits the water before it pans to the couple. This is apparently what awoke the monster.

this is one of the coolest movie experiences i've ever seen in the theatre.
to those of you saying it sucked i just do not understand. you knwo exactly what you are going to get with this movie from the previews.
*** POTENTIAL SPOILER ****
why the hell would you expect a back story? the whole movie is filmed from a dudes camcorder and that was known well before this movie was out. having some kind of back story would have been lame and thrown this movie off course.
i will admit i did have a nausious feeling initially before the Hud guy got the camera, and there were parts in the movie i had to look away from the screen.

They could have easily set up a backstory since you're viewing the tape after the attack as already happened at some govt facility so jj abrams could have added in a before/after he he wanted to. Just like how Blair Witch injected the faux-documentary into the middle of the footage

It is. I don't understand why they had to change it. The movie sucked. Horrible storyline.

I don't know why everyone is upset about storyline..... there is not really supposed to be any storyline. It's a tape the government found from random people, and it has random things on it, most clips surrounding the group's attempts to survive a monster attack in NYC.
To me, doing it in the style they did, excused them from really coming up with some kind of meaningful plot, but in this sense, I think it takes a little more timing prepping a story of this style than a straight forward ordered storyline. In reality, it's a monster movie with a social commentary of the times that it was released in. Think about it, it's a tape... we document things like no other these days. If something happened, anywhere.. you can pretty much safely bet that a video documenting it, either from a camcorder or from a cell phone or digital camera.
Hell, for all we know, this group could have been the dumb ones.. although, in reality, a lot of people in their age group would make the decision to trek across the city to save a dear friend, especially for the stereotype lifestyles they were living (partied like successful college students). Maybe everyone else was a little smarter and followed the military to escape. This group not doing that, and being the ones that had the means to document... is pretty predictable actually. Among those types, something is pretty much guaranteed when it was a going away party. And you all know the crowd: always a mixture of artist and young business folk.
