Ok, so the no. 1 question after watching the movie is where the fvck did that monster come from and how did it get there undetected? The no. 2 question on my mind, and this leaves open the possibility of a sequel is what happens to Lily?

The annoying thing for me is that I couldn't suspend my disbelief that they walked through the subway tunnel from Spring Street to 59th Street - that would have taken forever.

Yeah, I still want some more confirmation of that since I wasn't paying much attention during that. I'll believe it when I see it somewhere. Until then, OP has been edited.

I'm about to read the plot synopsis on wikipedia. I'm afraid it will be like Blaire witch project (which had great reviews but sucked ass).

Are the rumors true that there was some sort of global warming message/subplot? Like the monster was thawed out under the ocean because of global warming or something like that?

Some people point at the ending saying the monster came from the sky since it showed something crashing into the ocean on the tape.

I saw the prescreening on Tuesday. I didn't stay all the way through the credits, but I've read that after the credits there's a very muffled voice saying "it's still alive" others heard it as "please help us," so who knows...

I almost threw out my dinner during the whole ordeal.... They need better view cams with image stabilizers d@mn it.....

edit: Did that monster come from space??? Was there anything left to see after the credit?? Left pretty quickly after the tape ran out of space....

ya, my housemate nearly threw up watching it. I felt a bit nauseated during the middle. There was a slight static noise at the end of the credits where that lead male character says something. I couldn't make it out what it was, but wikipedia says "it's still alive."

Cloverfield Movie spoiler

*CUT TO THE CHASE*

EVERYONE DIES AND THE MILITARY NUKES MANHATTAN.

They die in this order:
1) Jason Hawk (Rob's brother) - dies on the Brooklyn Bridge when the monster attacks while everyone is trying to flee Manhattan, this happens about 20 minutes in.
2) Marlena - She gets bitten by one of the mini monsters in the tunnels and ends up exploding once they reach military help in the mall
3) HUD - Gets mauled by the monster right near the very end after the helicopter crash while getting PERFECT footage of the monster.
4+5) Rob and Beth - Supposedly get blown to pieces after the military imposes the HammerDown code and nukes the city. After identifying themselves on tape and embracing, telling each other they love each other.

Quick note:
Lily gets into a helicopter and is separated from HUD, Beth and Rob. It is not really known what happens to her. They don't show her helicopter wrecked.
Also, if you wait after the credits you hear radio static and something that sounds like a distant roar.

THERE IS NO BACKSTORY INTO HOW THE MONSTER COMES TO BE! BUT IT DOES LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THIS:

The little monsters look like the Uglies from Starship Troopers. The film doesn't really go into them either, except for the fact that they fall off the big monster a lot like barnacles. And they sound like someone nashing there teeth loudly. NYAH NYAH NYAH type sound.

I just saw it this afternoon - overall, I liked it (not like Oscar material or anything, but enjoyable)....

One major complaint though, I got a little nauseous/dizzy during some of the running scenes. And yeah, some of the scenes weren't really believable (walking the subway, holding the camera up while trying to climb from one building to another)

But overall, I enjoyed it. Probably won't see it again... maybe on rental.

I found the movie to be really good. You really don't have time to analyze it or pick at the mistakes while watching (self propelled artillery being used at point blank range FTW!!!), it was a adrenalin rush all the way through once they party ended.

-My biggest question about the movie (that can be answered) is does the main creature mutate during the movie? My friend commented that it looked different every time they showed it.

-Second question is how and why do the bites of the little b******* cause people to explode? 1 minute before Marlena pops she complains of feeling bad and starts bleeding from her eyes. Only prior symptoms is passing dizziness. It does not appear to be a take on the "Alien" movies with chest busters as they only have a tent and haz mat suits , all they worry about is the splash. From the shadow they show in the tent, she RAPIDLY expands to about 1 1/2 the size of a 9 month pregnant woman then pops, from one dead body they showed i would guess the explosion (and it is a explosion) occurs in the stomach area, but he could of been disemboweled by those little b******S.

-Third question is what does Marlena first say after the liberty head lands in the street and the monster travels by them? Does she say "it was feeding" or something?

I've seen somewhere "you don't need a stealth bomber to bomb a monster", but IIRC those stealth bombers can carry a LOT of bombs (close to a B-52 i -think-). I chalk it up to the fact that between the attack and the end of the movie it was 7 hours. It was probably a much better military response then is believable and they would of had to grab whatever was handy.

And unless this thing has magic zombie powers or is some highly evolved alien with super healing powers, a few dozen depleted uranium rounds to the mid section should drop it as i don't see it having heavy enough skin with that slim a body frame and size. They also don't actually show any of those little b******s being killed, just one squirming after it was hit in the mid section with a axe.

I would also better describe those little b******s as a cross between a zergling, spider and the cannon fodder bugs from Starship Troopers.


My conclusion:
-The "thing" is no monster, alien or animal(natural or mutated).
-It is your worst nightmare.

The dude holding the camera seems to have a need to talk when he is nervice or scared s***less. What he said was along the lines of maybe it came from a ocean trench, or a government experiment gone wrong. He also commented while in the pitch black subway tunnel how scary it would be for a homeless man on fire to pop out in front of them all of a sudden.
