CMMG

Bargain Bin Rifles are back!

Just like last time, we are only accepting orders for these online. There are no further discounts or quantity discounts. Once we have run through our current inventory, no back orders will be taken for these.

These won't win any beauty contests, but if you are looking for an affordable shooter, look no further! All rifles are M4A3 configured and consist of trade-ins, demos, scratched, dented, discolored, over-runs, special buys, uglies, etc. All rifles have been head spaced and test fired. Rifles are sold as-is with no returns.

If in doubt, inquire online, the feedback from these last year was phenomenal. Don't wait too long, these won't last long.

1/9 twist Barrels are Nitrided inside and out for years and years of trouble free operation!

CMMG makes quality stuff and these are a pretty good deal.

Anyone have any experience with these/this company? Any issues in the past? Anything else needed to shoot?

Wow, that is a pretty good deal for a factory-assembled AR-15. I own the CMMG .22LR conversion kit and like it quite a bit. I know they make quality lowers and other parts but I have never dealt with them directly.

RagingBITCH, you would need at least a magazine in order to shoot. Also, since these are flat-tops, you will need a rear sight which can be a detachable carry-handle type or a simple backup iron sight (BUIS) of either the fixed or folding variety. Usually BUIS's are used in conjunction with red-dot or other optics (which is another option instead of an iron sight) hence the name.... in case your optic is damaged, switch to the BUIS.

A good option for either is AIMsurplus.com... they currently are having a good deal on 30-rd magazines for $7.95 each:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acat...R15_30rd_.223_mag.html

These are good mags, I own 5 of them that I ordered from AIM last year (at a higher price!). AIM also has Magpul PMAGs which are polymer and definitely a little more rugged than your standard aluminum AR-15 mag. However, they are twice as expensive. Also AIM has sights:

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acat...ghts___Gas_Blocks.html

I would recommend the Magpul MBUS rear sight at $56.95. They are fairly new but have gotten some good reviews and are just about the cheapest you can find from a reputable company. Yes they are made of plastic but Magpul has been making plastic AR-15 accessories (buttstocks, magazines, etc.) for a long time and have enjoyed a good reputation for their parts. You can find $25 metal BUIS's around but they are generally cheaply made, and a lot of them were originally designed for AirSoft or paintball. I have heard of some of them being fine, but just as many others falling apart or not holding a zero.

If you want a red-dot then there are two standard options, the EOTech family or the AimPoint family. These will all run you around $400 but they are true military-tested red dots. There is also the Bushnell Holosight which uses the same technology as the EOTech but is not as ruggedly built for around $300. Then there are tons of Chinese knockoffs and cheapies (just search eBay) which run the gamut in pricing. Some of them are pretty good but others are just junk. It all depends on your application. Another option is of course the common rifle scope which is another whole discussion but can be purchased from $50-$1500, not including mounts (flat-top AR-15s have a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail which is very common and also compatible with Weaver rails).

So, in summary, you need: A) a magazine; and B) either a rear sight or a mountable optic (magnified scope or red-dot).

I bought one of the CMMG bargain bin M4s last year - DPMS lower, unknown upper (might be DPMS), everything brand new. The description makes them sound like scratch and dent specials, but mine looked like it just came out of the box.

Now I just need to find time to shoot it.

slashbin - thanks. I assumed it needed a magazine to shoot...but wasn't sure on the sight part. My current sig-o is currently in the Army, so maybe she can show me how to use it. Embarrassing that she knows more than I do. Thanks

Thanks, OP! This is a very good deal for an assembled rifle.

I like the idea that you can pay another $25 and get one of the guys at CMMG to pick one out for you - and you can pick the guy that does this for you!

If the available CMMG brands don't appeal to you (and I can't think of why they wouldn't at this price level) and you don't mind a little assembly work, you can get on the list for a Stag Arms rifle kit group buy at AR15.com for $609 shipped that includes a nice MI BUIS. Also a good deal, but the wait is 12 weeks and you still have to do some assembly and buy the lower receiver separately (around $100+).

Just a note to the non-gun-savvy on the board - these things aren't full auto.

That's a REALLY good price. Figure another $67 for the transfer and a mag, and you're talking about $700 for an AR-15 - not a bad price at all for one that's already assembled and tested.

I realize that generally speaking, if a rifle functions properly initially, you aren't going to run into any issues later in life that would be covered by warranty. However, for the ~$650 or so you would be speding to get this in your hands, is anyone worried that there is no warranty, and perhaps more importantly, no returns? It may be a foolish concern, but that is the only thing that makes me hesitate to jump on this.

Maybe I would be worried about it on some rifles, but not on an AR-15. They are the best-selling centerfire rifles in the US for the past couple of years running, and every single part is widely available and fairly easily replacable. There is a wealth of knowledge out there on how to tune-up one that's not running perfectly (#1: get good magazines). Yes, you might run across some issues, but nothing that your average gunsmith wouldn't be able to fix, and many things you would be able to fix yourself.... AR-15s are super easy to assemble and disassemble. Everything on the rifle is replaceable and upgradable, in most cases by the end-user. Log on to the ar15.com forums and you will be able to get tons of help if your rifle doesn't function properly.

I just happened to come across this glowing review of CMMG's customer service today:

If you're paying $67 for an FFL transfer and a mag you're getting ripped off.
At most you should be paying $25 for a FFL transfer. A PMAG will run your $14-$17 on AIMsurplus.

The CCMG bargin bin rifles are GTG.
Raging, I'm in North Dallas. The next time me and my buddies go to the range I can shoot you a PM and we'll can show you the in's and outs of the AR15.

You can always tell who lives in a gun friendly state. Transfers of "regulated" guns (ie, the AR-15) here in MD and in other places with tight gun laws are simply expensive to do. They involve a lot of paperwork, and the police tend to be picky. It's unfair to simply say that $50 for a transfer + $17 for a mag is out of the realm of reasonable for a lot of people.

Agreed - cheapest transfer I can find is $30, and I consider Arkansas to be a gun-friendly state. Still waivering between this and a DPMS A3 Lite for $769.99 with a full 3 year warranty, 2x 30 rd mags, cleaning kit, case and sling.

Edit: Had warranty wrong, DPMS is only 3 years, not lifetime. Been looking at so many got that confused.

DPMS' site lists it at base $730 with all that except case.

Jeff - thanks man. I have a few Army buddies who can show me too, but none of them own an AR to shoot with. (Although one is still active military and enjoys shooting) I'm located in Plano now (Legacy & 75) Hit me up sometime! slashbin is in the FW area and helped me with some recommendations.

Picked one up...being delivered to my FFL Monday. I'm so excited!

Actually, DPMS ships in a hard case based on the info I have, so it would be included there as well. However, DPMS doesn't sell direct to the public on their site - only to 'dealers' (i.e. any FFL holder who has established an account with them). Of course, if you have a close friend who is an FFL holder and will sell it to you without markup and isn't required to collect sales tax, all they would need to do is fax DPMS a copy of their FFL and get set up on their system as a dealer.

If you look around, you can find a better deal. Storefront dealers suck for third-party purchases. I called a dealer in Rockville to find out what they charged for transfers - $100! That told me that they didn't want my business at all. If you look on Gunbroker, you should be able to find a much more reasonable kitchen table type guy.

EDIT: the paperwork isn't that big of a deal and the state police aren't that picky, unless you happen to be a felon.

$100 is garbage. You can usually get transfers for $20-$30. Anyone can find an 'off' better deal, but this is pretty solid.

nope. If you want to destroy some human torsos and defeat some body armor with centerfire .223 is pretty pussy.

Don't do it, btw.

The cheapest I've EVER seen in this area is $30 cash, and that did _not_ include the $10 MSP fee for the regulated firearm paperwork, and he was more than an hour away. Everyone who's actually local in Rockville, and believe me, I've done the research online, is charging a minimum of $50.

Sorry, but getting out for less than $50 is just not an option for some people. I have no idea why that's so hard to admit.

What I need to do is find someone selling a stripped lower for cheap around here...

Got my bargain bin M4 yesterday. Like everyone else has said, it came in looking like it was brand new, fired a few times (to test it as per the website), but the upper and lower look brand new. The stock looks a little used, but everything else looks great.

My rear sights and magazines come in tomorrow, and will pick-up some ammo this afternoon.
