CMOS - checksum error

i have a Iwill KK-266+R
40 gig WD ATA 100 HDD
GF3 Ti200 PNY VERTO
Tekram SCSI card
Video Capture Card
SB LIVE! Value
NETGEAR FA311 nic...

and everytime i power down or restart the computer never restarts... it always restarts... everything turns on expect my monitor which goes into standby mode and i have to power down (hold the power button for 4 seconds) and turn it back on real fast... then it boots.. but upon booting again.. i get the CMOS - checksum error and it knocks all my bios settings back to defult, ive cleared the cmos... and i have tried another board with the same result.... help!

Most of the time you get a CMOS checksum error is because some of the data in the cmos is incorrect. That usually happens when you have a bad bios flash or if the CMOS battery is dead and doesn't save the settings that it should be.

As Mikeg says, it could very well be a bad battery. If that isn't it you might want to take a closer look at your Power supply. Those conditions match the behaviour of a "bad" or insufficient power supply also. Have you recently added any components?

well.. i doubt its a bad flash because the board did it right out of the box.. and another board i tired it with did the same thing... i have a 431 W Enermax psu.. and i got this problem when i switched cases to my koolance watercooled case

Well then I'd think the answer is going to be found with the move to the new case. Could be a misplaced standoff shorting something. Are you using the water cooling now as opposed to using air cooling before? It's a pain but I think you should remove the board from the case and try running it sitting on anti-static foam outside the case. If it doesn't repeat the problem then you will know that it has something to do with the case/move. However, it could still be the PS. Maybe it is "going south" or maybe something is not hooked up right.
