Hey guys, I just installed a new Amptron PIII-3754LMR motherboard and it gives the error :
CMOS/GPNV checksum bad
Press F1 to Run Setup
Press F2 to load default values and continue

the keyboard doesn't work at all, and it's plugged in all the way. I tried 2 keyboards that I know work. I cleared the CMOS already.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

edit : I think the problem lies more with the fact that I can't get the keyboard to work. Any ideas?

The error sounds like it is a simple matter of the configuration data for your BIOS not being set up yet. However, when it comes to your keyboard problem - have you checked to make sure the keyboard connector on the motherboard is not loose? I know it sounds very dumb, but are you sure the keyboard is in the keyboard port, and the mouse is in the mouse port? You are using a PS/2 keyboard, right, not a USB one?

You might have blown the fuse. Motherboards have a fuse for the keyboards. If you are good at soldering you might be able to replace it.

EDIT:
If the fuse is the problem you might be able to get around this by using a USB keyboard.

ok... check your cables and make sure they're in the proper ports... next... reset your bios... the default to do it is to disconnect the ATX power connector from your power supply to the motherboard and then find the jumper that resets your bios... pull it out of it's original positon and put it into its reset position...hold in reset position for about ten seconds then put it back in original position (check your manual to find this jumper) and reconnect ATX power cable (should sound familiar)... another is disconnect the ATX power connector and then disconnect the little lithium battery on the board for about ten seconds... then plug the jumper and the cable back in... the latter works for me doesn't work for everyone... since you've already cleared your bios... the only other recourse is that your bios chip itself is bad... look to see if you can get a replacement... beats pumping your wallet for a new board... GOOD LUCK

I tried a usb keyboard, no dice. I did reset the bios already like the manual said.
