I tried DVD Decrypter and it gave me an iso, then mounted that with Daemon Tools, but it still asked for the disk when I tried to run a game? Maybe it would work if I'd originally installed it with the iso instead of the disk. I'm probably going to try reinstalling with the iso, but wanted to ask here first.

This is a laptop so I only have one drive, and the current setup undoubtedly uses more juice than if I just had it on the HDD, not to mention I own two laptops and want to play some of these over LAN, but there's no way I'm paying another thirty bucks for it; not for use on my own machines in my own house.

If you mount it and install it from the mounted drive in Daemon tools you should have no issues You'll still have to have it mounted to play it though.

I would make the image with Alcohol 52% freeware, DVD Decrypter is old and probably will not work with the latest DRM.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. I first tried repairing it with the image, then I outright uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the image, but it still asks for the DVD.

It doesn't need the DVD for every game, ie Renegade and RA1 and RA2 don't need it, but Yuri's Revenge and Generals do.

Edit: perhaps beggars can't be choosers, but I seriously have bought the DVD and have valid serial numbers, I don't want to give up online play just to avoid having the DVD with me all the time.

Having a Similar issue using Alcohol 52% and Medieval II. The game installed fine from the image but won't run from it. Keeps asking to insert DVD.

Figured it out. Safedisc was blacklisting Alcohol. Found a nifty little tool that hides A52% from it allowing me to play the game.

Actually it seems that SafeDisc blacklists all SCSI drives, which almost all of the emulators use. Anyway, I got mine to work too, though I did have to mess with this all day to figure out what exactly the problem was. It's pretty ridiculous really, for something I legally bought at WalMart...

Dangit EA, I was hoping to be able to LAN with this, but it got mad because both of my computers have the same serial number :disgust:

Ah well, best to quit while I'm ahead. At least now I don't have to keep the DVD with me all the time, not to mention I can still LAN RA2, though Yuri's Revenge is still better...

Doesn't for me.
Running NOD32 with latest definitions.
Must be a false alarm on your part.

It's a trustworthy site, I've been going there for years. Never got any type of problem from them.

You will need to hide the vdrives from the system. Something like Yet Another SecuROM Utility
