Ugly people complaining about hot people showing it off in public again. Oh noes!
If I drove up to one of those places with my kids in the car, I'd be pretty damn pissed. "Terrifying" was probably a poor choice of words, but I can imagine how she felt, knowing that she just exposed her kids to... well, pasties.
I'm not against what they're doing, but there needs to be OBVIOUS warnings when you pull in that you're about to see some major boob.
they do NOT need warnings, you can walk down the street like that if you wanted to and no one could do anything about it,
shelter your kids more
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Is this really asking too much?
Before I had kids, I would have agreed with you. Then I became a responsible adult and realized that just because certain rights exist doesn't mean they're RIGHT.
You, read A Nation of Wimps; I have a sneaking suspision that your kids will fall under that category!
If you even HAVE kids right now (which I seriously doubt), I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll be a terrible parent.
Like I said, I thought just like you guys did until I was actually RESPONSIBLE for a child. Changes everything. Judge all you want.

I have a child of my own and neither my wife nor I shelter him from nudity. He sometimes comes into our room when we're changing or showering. It's just not a big deal.

Maybe if you are trying to raise your kids properly.
wth? raising them "properly" means sheltering them from all the worlds evil? those kids were hardly toddlers. the more you shelter them the more they find out at an older age and feel like they "missed out" on things. i dont take my kids to see R movies or strip clubs or anything, but if they see a girl walking around tempe in a bikini they will tell me, maybe laff about it but thats about it. it doesnt warp their minds or anything. oh, and summertime in tempe is always fun, especially around asu.

i have 3, and while i did shelter them a bit from public nudity when they were younger, once they get that sex talk and they are in their teens theres really no point to trying to keep it all from them. i dont give them magazines or take them to tittie clubs, but if theres a naked, crazy woman walking on the freeway and we happen to drive by im not going to scream "COVER YER EYES!!!! AAAAAUGGGHH!!". thats just ridiculous. i dont think im being irresponsible, i think im being realistic. i think your sheltering is a bit unrealistic, personally.

Wow, some of you that think nudity is bad must have had horrible childhoods.
You know, most parents that don't want their kids to be crazy a-moral hypocrites don't try and hide nature from them. Seriously, National Geographic shows more nudity.

You talking to me?
I'm guessing this post was meant for jbourne
So what about women in aboriginal tribes, or in places where it's simply too darned hot (or poor) to bother with clothing? Is their nudity there corrupting the children from the start? Are the women still objectified? (primitive laws and customs aside, of course)Originally posted by: JulesMaximus

Well, I wouldn't take my son to a strip club either. And yes, the bikini clad baristas does kind of objectify women so it's probably not the best thing for a young impressionable teen to see but it's really no different than any of the crap they see on TV advertising every single day either. I can see that point of view but really, we are bombarded with this constantly through advertisements. Sex sells...it has been this way for as long as people have been buying and selling things.

I agree with your point, but I must point out that breasts are not "evil." Just because breasts have been hyper-sexualized in American culture does not make them inherently bad; they are life-affirming, a source of nourishment for infants. To view them as "evil" or "terrifying" or any other number of negative adjectives is absurd.

ummm i agree with that, i was saying wth about others thinking their kids seeing a wayward breast was terrifying.

My 4 and 5 year olds watch Noggin... not many sex ads there .
I guess my question is, where do we draw the line? You draw yours at strip clubs... I draw mine at coffee joints operating like strip clubs.
All I'm asking for - and getting criticized for - is fair warning. If my neighborhood Starbucks is flashing tittie, let me know so I don't walk in with my toddlers. The woman in the video wasn't asking for a ban on the action (IIRC), she just wanted a heads up. What's wrong with that?
But I guess that's "sheltering" my kids from "nature" .
