Well, partially doxxed...they found his personal information, but are withholding it (for now) because the user publicly apologized. "CNN reserves the right to publish his identity"

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/04/politics/kfile-reddit-user-trump-tweet/index.html
Now the user is apologizing, writing in a lengthy post on Reddit that he does not advocate violence against the press and expressing remorse there and in an interview with CNN for other posts he made that were racist and anti-Semitic.

...

The apology came after CNN's KFile identified the man behind "HanA**holeSolo." Using identifying information that "HanA**holeSolo" posted on Reddit, KFile was able to determine key biographical details, to find the man's name using a Facebook search and ultimately corroborate details he had made available on Reddit.

...

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

"After being contacted by CNN, Reddit user whose video Trump tweeted apologizes"

So they basically blackmailed him into issuing an apology under the threat of leaking his personal information? For a silly meme? I mean, I don't agree with trolling, but this seems a little extreme. What are your thoughts?

made himself a public figure

You sure? I'm pretty sure he just thought he was posting another funny meme anonymously on the Internet & didn't imagine that the president himself would post it on twitter...

The fake outrage of how a meme from what is obviously trump wanting to figuratively slam CNN is just unfortunate. Trump is a professional troll. And CNN just takes the bait every time and never knows how to respond.

Like the Kathy Griffin thing....terrible taste but do you really think she has it in her to organize an attack on POTUS.... nope. More people fake outraging.

We need to ignore his tweets and focus on his policy. I don't care about the crazy warez crap he thinks is funny. If he issues a policy that is insane how about we focus our outrage there before people think it's crying wolf

People need to be able to take personal responsibility for what they post. If you are unwilling to do that then don't post it.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

/thread

110% agree.

In this case, however, is it appropriate for a multi-national news organization to dox an individual over a, well, cartoon? It seems a little on the extreme side to write an entire front-page article about it.

I do think the Kathy Griffin thing took the idea much, much further than this guy did...he made a silly wrestling gif with a logo on it...he didn't hold up a fake, bloody, decapitated head. Even though nobody really thought Kathy Griffin was organizing an attack, it was in extremely bad taste. I mean, the president has a young kid, you know?

If not this time, than certainly this sets the precedent. You can no longer say you didn't know your Reddit post might go "Modern Presidential".

The more the left true to publicly shame people who kind of like Trump or support him for whatever reason..it will just solidify his popularity and gain support.

Look. he can come off as funny and likeable...but in à I just got t-ba$$ed by some mouthy nerd in counter strike kind of way. It's funny but only in a shallow and eventually annoying way. He's like the player we can laugh about 5 minutes after he was permabanned. God help us if people are drawn to support him and empathize with him when anyone who says "lol" to his musings is treated like a Nazi who must be beheaded on a special anti free speech prosecutor.

We got into this mess and it's our job to start acting mature and not like the little snotty brother who constantly tattles and blows everything out of proportion.

It was a MEME! Ugh

Maybe the President of the United States should start acting like an adult instead of what he's been doing. Acting like a pussy-ass cry baby.

I know how much you worship him and his pussygrabing. You should tell him to "get gud." lol......

Its focusing on completely the wrong thing, I'm not going to touch the doxxing, I am saying all this talk about the meme being used on racist sites, promoting violence, disrespecting the press is far less important than:

The President is acting like a clown
The President no longer allows cameras at his press briefings
The President has yet to admit Russia meddled in our election
The President leaked or at minimum gave away secret information to the Russian Ambassador, while no US Press was in the room but there was Russian Press in the room
The President does not appear to understand what he has power over
The President is supporting a health bill that he appears to have little knowledge of
The President seems to only talk to Fox & Friends
The President is oddly obsessed with twitter
The President does not appear to be interested in representing people who didn't vote for him

It was very graphic and rated R where what trump did was pg13

Other then that it's pretty much the same. Neither called for violence as Fox News and CNN blindingly suggest.

Some information about this guy : https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2017/07/02/a-reddit-user-who-wrote-about-stabbing-muslims-is-claiming-credit-for-trumps-cnn-video/?hpid=hp_no-name_hp-in-the-newsage/in-the-news&tid=sm_tw&utm_term=.b706dde342a1

Too bad, so sad for him. I thought all these Trump testicle bearers thought of themselves as big alpha dog non-snowflakes? Whenever any of them are faced with conflict, they turn out to be just like Trump himself; thin-skinned, dumb as rocks and easily manipulated man-babies.

I don't give a care what so ever about the guy who created the meme. We all know people like him or are people like him. The President should be above re-posting it. I understand the guy is pretty gross but I don't need him to get in trouble for this meme specifically. It's disgusting that Trump valued it enough to take time out of his very busy presidential day to post it. He's the bigger issue in this case. Plus, the guys apology wasn't sincere. Insincere apologies are worth nothing.

Where's Trumps apology? That meme would never have seen the light of day (on this scale any way) if Trump hadn't posted it. Trump owes the apology.

Uh, no, according to your linked article. When you fashioned your quote, you cut off part:

On Monday, KFile attempted to contact the man by email and phone but he did not respond. On Tuesday, "HanA**holeSolo" posted his apology on the subreddit /The_Donald and deleted all of his other posts.

After posting his apology, "HanA**holeSolo" called CNN's KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, "HanA**holeSolo" sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.

To me, that reads as CNN tried to contact the person without success. The next day, the person apologizes, again, without any contact from CNN. And only at that point did the person initiate contact with CNN. So I fail to see how blackmail was conducted.

y'know, Trump grabbing women by the pussy. Would the pinky finger without insertion be rated G, while a middle finger going in be a PG-13, while a whole fist be a NC-17?
