The world needs Americans to be chumps right now, especially Russia.
If we keep listening to CNN, we shall be a bunch of chumps.

What are they trying to deter others from doing? Making internet memes?
The media is under attack these days. I think they're trying to deter people from using violent rhetoric or memes which target the media. That's why they made this a front page story. It isn't really about this one person.
This. Meanwhile, CNN's parent organization, Time Warner, continues to sponsor "Shakespeare in the Park" where Donald Trump is assassinated every night. 'Cause reasons.

On the plus side, CNN is much funnier than any sitcoms the networks produce, so at least this four years isn't a total loss.
They are "under attack" for being untrustworthy and partisan rightly or wrongly, but this certainly doesn't help their case. Instilling fear in the public not to attack (in reality attack=criticize) you is no way to gain their trust. CNN shot themselves in the foot on this, some of you will simply defend anything.
I don't understand what CNN thought was the value in finding the original creator. There are zillion memes out there, does anyone really care who originally created any of them? Surely the issue, insofar as there is an issue, is Trump choosing to tweet it?
And I am not sure about the 'inciting violence against journalists' bit. Dunno. In normal times I'd say that was daft, that it was just some sort of metaphor (and is wresting really 'violence'? Isn't it just a kind of carefully choreographed performance art - dancing for people who think dancing is unmanly?). But that Montana oddball bodyslamming a journalist puts it in a different light.
Main thing is that Trump tweeting that was just amazingly undignified. Like he's a teenager eating bowls of cereal in the Whitehouse basement. He'll be posting on here next, arguing about video cards.
The whole think is just weird, and even CNN should be wary of kicking the ant mound of 4chan
They did it because it's easier to go after a reddit user than the President. And they're about to suffer horribly for it

We're living in weird times. Weird times call for weird measures.
I don't like how CNN is handling being the target of such hostility towards media.
They dig themselves deeper. Treating this as a tit for tat. Not a good thing.
he realized the gravity of the situation he was in
How about someone arguing for a woman's right to an abortion on an internet forum and those who have opposite views are able to find out they work for planned parenthood because their real identity is next to the comments, now that person has to watch their backs and continuously put up with death threats and being called baby killer,
How about an atheist who calls out someones religious beliefs and makes them look like a fool on line now receives death threats against themselves and family because he skewered someones sacred cow.
Or even more mundane than that, you might have activities or political beliefs that even though may not have anything to do with work might not by looked at kindly by upper management and the only thing that protects you from them is a pseudonym,
and let's not forget the reality that allows a women to be taken more seriously on most male dominated message boards because she doesn't post under her real name signifying that she is a female.
It is an official statement from the White House. Can you elaborate on this "gravity of the situation"? Because I have seen and see TONS of such and very similar memes, often.
I must be on a different Internet than yours where a effing troll meme, regardless how stupid it is, is now a grave situation. CHEEZUS EFFING CHRIST.
The entire thing is bizarre beyond belief.
It's bizarre beyond belief since it was not a meme, say, depicting someone shooting Trump or similar. It is bizarre how CNN reacted and made this their TOp HEADLINE and then with this subtle thread even to release the name. (Seriously I couldn't even believe this). And it gets even more bizarre to read this type of well-worded apology from an internet troll. Nothing there makes ANY SENSE to me.
We're only protected from the government in both cases. Keep that in mind, too.Thank you for a comprehensive guide as to why the First and Fourth amendments are directly connected.
Seems some posters wanted to dispute that.
