CNN's Touchscreen Election Analysis Rig

Is anyone watching the Super Tuesday coverage on CNN? The touchscreen computer system that they are using to vizualize the election results is fascinating.

The newscaster can pan and zoom into different states, counties, even cities, and the election data is automatically displayed for that locality. He also has access to both parties data for the 2008, 2004, and 2000 primaries.

Absolutely a fascinating implementation and data design.

haha my wife made me go check it out and she thought it was the greatest thing ever too. i think it's just a smartboard with some good software...nothing mindblowing.

Well now that everyone's using hack-friendly electronic voting machines, CNN probably controls the election results in different states, counties, and cities.

It's almost iphone-esque how he can zoom out by taking both hands and moving them outwards. It's a pretty nifty device. CNN's coverage on this is great.

Did anyone see Anderson Cooper's magic board in the Iowa primary? He'd hold out a small board and a big pie chart would float over the board and move as he moved it. It was the most pointless graphic ever.

However, I do love the touch screen white board. It also seems like they really practiced on it so they're pretty smooth when operating it.

yeah i saw that pie chart board thing...he seems to have trouble using that everytime he tries to
