And this doesn't really explain much about buying the sharpie from the other co-worker.

I think it's more likely going to be a scam or something. I'd buy it anyways though

Me too. Could be indicative of some looming breakdown or something. Best case scenario, he wants to be funny and peculiar and leave you with an interesting story/memory of him. so...i just called a friend in HR and she said it isn't against company policy in any way that she can see. She said it would be looked at as a "gift" and other people sell things like make-up or tupperware also. She said she would take the money and wouldn't spend it for a few days. god...this is wierd.

Seriously, I wouldnt do it. It's too weird, and $200 is not worth it IMO to get involved in something like this or to satisfy someone's weird fetish.
