They stopped selling Throwback here. Only came out for one summer. Was not impressed. They've got this thing now called Pepsi Next, which is sweetened with stevia. It's okay but nowhere near as good as cane sugar.

When I went to Cuba, they had this weird cola called TuKola, which is one of the worst brands I've tried. No wonder they all mix it with rum. i stuck with the pirate themed beer instead.

Mexico has the best cola. You're missing out on one of life's little pleasures if you haven't tried Mexican Coke. You might be able to find it in some Latino grocery stores. There are quite a few places that sell it online too, but it's usually overpriced.

There's one I've been meaning to try called NotSee Kola. Your standard issue Third Riche themed beverage. It supposedly tastes exactly like Crystal Pepsi. I've seen it on Amazon US. I think it's by the same people who made Lennonaide, a Soviet themed drink.

Pepsi, and it's not even close.

It used to be a toss-up, until they pulled Coke in the 80's, replaced it with "New Coke", which was a Pepsi clone, then brought back "Coke Classic", which wasn't the same.

Prior to that, Pepsi was king. It was either great marketing by Coke, or blind luck, but they've been the leader ever since....and all they did was take Coke away from people for awhile, change the formula, then reintroduce it and suddenly they were #1.

I don't think Pepsi's ever been the market leader. If anything, the Coke debacle gave them more market share than they would have otherwise had.

So you are partially right, but Pepsi was #1 in what people actual went out and BOUGHT, and was steadily gaining.

New Coke was either the biggest product fail in history, or a genious case of marketing. IIRC, New Coke did keep selling for quite a while after the debacle. I think it was Coke Classic that made the switch over to HFCS, because it was the cheaper sweetener. You can thank your government for that, since they were spending tax dollars to heavily subsidize the corn industry.

I've been wanting to try Moxie for awhile, but so far, I haven't been able to find it.

I haven't seen Moxie since the early 60's when I lived in Mass.

As I remember, it wasn't bad. (but that was 50 years ago...so my memories might not be accurate)

Pepsi Throwback is what I prefer. I no longer drink HFCS beverages.

I understand why Coke is #1 - it's available everywhere. When we visited Kenya, we were on our way to Masai Mara and driving for miles through nothing. Every couple of hours we'd come across a tiny village with a little store - and they would have Coke. Their distribution system must be amazing.

Mexican coke is better, but not different enough for you to notice only regular coke is worse than pepsi. No way.

I like the local brands better.

Hosmer Mountain soda, Foxon Park, or A-Treat are all way better than any Coke or Pepsi product.

I drink Coke Zero and Pepsi Max. I usually drink the latter when I want a bit more caffeine as it has 69mg vs. 45mg (in Coke Zero).
