I posted a pricey $4,200 model from buy.com earlier in the week. Yesterday, I received a flyer from these guys and decided to check out their website. The link above points you to a variety of game models. I think these guys specialize in coin operated machines, either way, these are a lot cheaper than my previous post. I'm not sure if these are used or new. But maybe a nice way to get a good looking case and mod it for MAME?

I've use them a few times for some Mame cabinets I've built. I'd have no hesitation from buying from them. Good prices and fast response. The reason I bother to mention is that they are a very specialized dealer so I doubt they'd show up in most reseller ratings lists.

I'd rather have this bad boy Costco is selling. It plays a decent selection of games and is only $2300. It even has a trackball for Centipede.

Those guys are selling generic cabinets. I sell original replicas. Mostly Mrs Pac or Galaga replicas like this one...

You are looking at roughly $2000 for the 39 in 1. The "Ultracade" that Costco has is a piece of garbage. It has mostly unheard of games.

Mrs Pac, Galaga, DK, Frogger, DigDug, BurgerTime. That's what people want. The Ultracade one doesn't have any of those. Plus, the Ultracade people SUCK. Try to get your game fixed if the hard drive dies. They won't let you do it. You've gotta send it to them.

Yeah, who'd want to play Street Fighter II?

I will admit that the Costco cabinet has issues, especially since it has quite a few paddle games such as Breakout and Tempest but yet has no paddle controller. And Battlezone with one joystick? Absurd. And now that I think about it, two player Street Fighter on a cocktail machine just doesn't really work all that well since one player is going to be looking at the action upside down.

Or you could just go here, pay a couple hundred bucks for a cocktail cabinet kit & feel the satisfaction of putting it all together yourself.

Hello.

What that website doesn't tell you is the cost of all the other pieces. Can you tell me how the monitor is going to mount in that kit? What about the metal clips that hold the glass down? You need 8 of them, and they don't bother to tell you that they are $4 each. What about the underlay that goes under the glass? And the plastic monitor bezel. Etc, Etc, Etc. Believe me. I'm in the business, and I've priced it all out. A friend of mine is manufacturing the cabinet that I linked to in my previous post. I got into arguments with him over the price he was charging me at first, so I took it upon myself to price everything individually one time. You are looking at QUITE A BIT more than a few hundred dollars, by the time you purchase all the additional metal and plastic pieces that they don't tell you about.

What are you talking about. It has missile command, breakout, asteroids, centipede, and my favorite gun smoke. They may not be the most popular, but these games are classics that almost everyone has heard of.

I have played every one of those unheard of games. Even the oldest one 1979 Lunar Lander, @ cape Canaveral when i was 11 yers old??

My brother has the costco one. Plays fine. I have 4games myself. Fullsize Asteroids, donkey kong, Centipede, MS Pacman. I bought them from a place in New Jersey that restores the old games.

Costco's return policy seals the deal. Yours looks to be a very nicly put together setup. Im not crapping on your thread above. Or even you linking to ebay, Usually you get trashed for that.

I still like the original stand up games anyday. I've got over 900 Mame Games setup perfect in a homemade standup. I didnt realize people were actually charging this much for homemades. I might just start a new Venture instead of just custom computers.

...and Millipede, Missle Command, and Crystal Castles. Needs a spinner for Tempest and Warlords though.
Asteroids, Luner Lander, Super Breakout, and Space Duel used buttons to rotate. I wonder if this does that or if you have to use the stick.

This place has it is available with some add on games. There's a stand up version too. They have new Dragon's Lair 1/2/Space Ace combo machines! Even a Half Life 2 machine.

Check this place out. Click Classic 80's Arcade Games, and Cocktail Game Tables. Some are new. I didn't know they were making dedicated classic machines as
new again, besides the multi systems. It has new Dragon's Lair machines with a hard drive.

BTW, both of these places also sell the Ultracade, which is different from the Arcade Legends Costco is selling. Ultracade comes with upto ~131 games, and they're different ones than Arcade Legends.
I played the Ultracade 27 standup this summer at the Waterville arcade in Gulf Shores.

This Mame cab would be a better choice than the Arcade Legends. Not quite sure how you get all the controls. There are other companies making cabs like this.

If I had the time, I'd just make my own Mame cab, with all the classic games. Or buy an old one for a couple hundred bucks at an auction and convert it. Not quite sure how to get all the needed controls on there though. Another 'problem' that would make it less like the originals is having to play vertical games on a horizonal screen.

tedinde, what controls do you have for your 900 game machine?

Nice cab, DavemanUT. I think we chatted on here before. I'm near you in H'ville.

Hi, do you have any more info on building cabinets? I am interested into building a stand-up for myself, but don't know where to go to buy a kit, monitor..., everything minus the brain. Can you provide some insight? Would building one on your own cost as much as buying a built one?
