I buy whatever please, whenever I please, and there's nothing you can say or do that will dissuade me. Its becoming very obvious that you are incapable of carrying on a civil conversation.

Im glad you like the game, I just wish you liked it enough to play it more often and spent less time in here trolling me. LOL

The only person trolling here is you.

You can say the same thing about BF4, BF3, BF: BC2, BF2142, and BF2.

They're all just different maps, different weapons, different game modes, and a few gimmicks thrown in the mix here and there. BF2142 - we have MECHS instead of tanks, ZOMG! BF3 - now you can blow up the walls of buildings... for no apparent reason! BF4 - now you can blow up EVEN MORE stuff, and some buildings will COMPLETELY collapse!

With the exception of the rare occasion when someone is hiding behind a destructible wall and you just happen to have an RPG, it's all a gimmick. Why I'm completely safe inside a shipping container, but not inside of a concrete building? The shipping container wasn't programmed to be destructible, that's why. Don't get me wrong, I think Frostbyte is a step in the right direction, but until we get to the point where entire maps can be leveled like they would be in real life with so many munitions flying around, it's only a minor part of the overall game. If they get to the point where every structure can be damaged and collapse in a realistic way, and build a game mode where one team actually needs to prevent a building / area from being destroyed, being mindful to important structural assets that the building relies on, it will be a game changer. Until then, it's kind of fun to look at, but little else.

I absolutely love the Battlefield games, and am still playing BF4 somewhat regularly. Saying that they're so evolutionary compared to the COD games is a farce, though. Both lines are just recycled concepts with some new frills and little truly new. And you know what? They're great fun, too. Don't buy these games and complain about how much it's like the last one; buy these games knowing that you're getting the same thing with a few artistic flares, forget the nay-sayers, and have fun.
At least BF has updated its gaming engine since 1999.

I see few threads about COD, i guess they all turn bad?

Because people who don't play COD feel the need to tell people they don't like/play COD. I don't really like Battlefield, I don't really feel the need to go into Battlefield threads like some loser and tell people I don't play this game because I think it sucks.

wow now Detroit doesnt load for me either, up to 4 maps now that dont work and force me to either wait an extremely long load time for it to bounce me back to the menu, or ctrl-alt-delete and force stop the exe

I played it, saw tons of positive reviews on gaming sites, i thought it was suspect but whatever.

Didn't even manage to complete the game, I got to the mission
after irons got exposed, hopefully that's not spoiling too much. But tbh, I could see the plot twist the minute i saw kevin spacey and after hades' death, it was just painfully obvious.

everything's the same, linear path, follow the NPC, shoot enemies that appear out of nowhere constantly, press F to open doors/plant bombs/get on the chopper/get in the tank/use EMP.

only thing different is the jetpack, double jump and jumping off high areas, but these are just novelty, not enough of it imo. i dont even use overdrive that much.

I for one do play CoD....CoD4 and World at War. Like many others Im still waiting for them to improve on those two. I played CoD4 almost daily, some times competitively, up until BF3 released. In fact BF3 was the first BF game I really cared anything about, the earlier versions were just too sluggish for me to enjoy. So not everyone fits the mold you just laid out. Ill still hang around here and see what more folks think of AW though.

That's where it becomes a matter of perspective, because in my view they did that and they called it Black Ops (1 not 2). In response to your last statement there, I can give you my opinion on it and it may give you a good idea as to if you would like it. Many people seem to want to refer to AW as COD's attempt to copy Titanfall. I wonder if it's just because of videos they have seen. It doesn't really feel much like Titanfall to me. It feel/plays like the developers started with Black Ops 2, and really, really liked to play themselves some UT2004 with the double jump mutator back in the day. Overall I think they did a nice job and the only complaint I really have is the netcode/lag compensation issues it seems to have at the moment (Much like MW3 had on release from the same developers, which btw is the absolute worst COD IMO, so I wasn't expecting much originally from this game).

I hate to say this but this game is basically just pissing me off. I never do MP on these. For BF and COD I buy them, do single, sell them.

I'm on the fourth mission now, Fission. Last night I went to bed after almost finishing it, many checkpoints deep, and when I boot up this morning (on PS4) I have to start the mission again. That alone is enough to make me want to stop playing.

However, this campaign is full of way too much QTE shit, it's really out of hand. The most annoying one (not quite QTE, but a tiny sub game you don't use anywhere else) so far involves using harmonics to listen into a room and you have to mark people (you can barely make them out). There are four people to mark. However, one of them is at the back of the room and very, very hard to see--in fact it's easy to confuse him with a hostage who's standing up. When you mark he hostage and not the gunmen you just get a "don't kill hostages" message, which makes no sense given the context. This took me 8-10 tries. It felt like shooting in the dark (it was).

The story is ludicrous of course, what story there is. Basically it feels like missions randomly thrown together serving as extended training missions for the various bits of gear. Except then you can't use the gear again in later missions, it just kind of isn't available again. I'm just seriously burned out on these. I think I'm not even going to play it again and up on amazon it goes.

TL;DR:
- F**k off with making me start a mission again if I'm already at checkpoints
- piss off with all the stupid QTE shit
- The incessant f**king dialogue from teammates to do the same thing. The worst is the frogger level. "Cross the road, Mitchell!" "Mitchell, cross the road!" Holy shit, I'm waiting for a break in traffic dick, stop yelling at me to cross the road. But that's not the only point my teammates hound me over and over and over to do something

That's what I'm doing, playing the single player and trading it to best buy next week for far cry 4. I got it on Xbox one and after it installed I played 2 hours and couldn't even get into multiplayer because it was still installing the multiplayer section.

I've always played the cod games on PlayStation and one difference I see is on Xbox the game is a bit darker and for example the first mission, you can barely make out the enemies.

I wonder how it would have been had I got it for ps4.

Yeah you are right about perspective, everyone has differing opinions on which CoD was the best. IMO, Black Ops was the best of the post CoD4 games, it was able to hold my attention for about 6 months. Black Ops 2 on the other hand is where they totally lost me. I hated the RTS type of gameplay in the campaign and the multi player went way over the top with all the weird weapons, gadgets, and killstreaks.

Thanks for an honest opinion on AW. One question, are there dedicated or at least semi-dedicated servers like from BO, or is it only a matchmaking system now?

I jacked brightness up a bit It gives you that option when you first load it.

I also find many of the enemies look exactly like my own guys unless I have the reticle over them to outline their name. There's just a lot of annoying stuff about it but, ultimately, it's just extremely boring. Even when I'm cranking through the missions I don't find any fun in them. No sense of exploration or "wow, that was neat". Everything is kind of force fed. I am officially done with the campaigns on these shooters. They are like a candle to a bonfire compared to campaigns of some other games. At the end of the day 90% of the guys I kill die the same way they always have: 3-round bursts to the upper torso/head, repeat ad nauseum. I got this game for $40 with the target deal, so it will cost me little to sell.

Yea I got it with the target deal too so if I ever get to try mp I'll play a few matches and then get through the campaign before I trade it in. Too bad it doesn't have the same story and engaging feel modern warfare had, I really enjoyed the campaign in the older games.

As far as I can tell it's pure p2p matchmaking, if it is on quasi-dedicated servers like BLOPs 2, it's certainly not playing as well currently.

I agree on the Black Ops 2 single player, Treyarch seems to be especially gifted with multiplayer, and spotty at best with single player, the first Black Ops being the only SP I've thought really stood out of theirs. To be honest the original MW was the last really "great" SP campaign of the series. I take them for what they are, well crafted, fun, single player diversions, not epic game experiences. To be fair though, very few games of any type are. Last game I can remember playing that really left an impression like that on me was Borderlands. By all measurable standards Borderlands 2 was an improvement upon that, yet I didn't enjoy it as much. If someone who had never played either game asked me which to play I wouldn't hesitate to say BL2, to me though the first one was fresh, the next one wasn't. COD suffers from this and there isn't really anything they could do to fix it. It's hard to offer something completely fresh and new without alienating your core audience.

Good grief! IMO, P2P is the absolute worst scenario for a multi player game. I despised IWNET in MW2, the lag, host migration, hackers running amuck, and waiting in lobbies....WTF are they thinking?

Yep, just ask DICE about offering something a little more mainstream with BF3 and 4. The BF purists went completely bonkers. LOL

future, did you see this for fixing the reported memory size?

r_videoMemoryScale ".85" -> Set it to 1 --- this makes the game recognize ALL of your gpus vram instead of 85% of it. For example it was only reading 2.5g out of 3g for me.

Why is every developer so addicted to QTEs? I read quite a few posts here where people complain about them, I don't remember ever seeing one post about someone liking them, yet most recent games have them, despite everyone finding them obnoxious.

Is there something I'm missing here?

I despise most QTEs, and AW's are no exception. They are frustrating and placed in dumb situations (i.e., "Press X to Pay Respects"). I also hate it when there's a string of unforgiving QTEs that you have to get through perfectly or else play the whole sequence over and over (early mission where you jump on top of buses). Dammit, if I want to play this kind of game I'll buy the stupid Simon Says toy with the light up colors.

One exception to the QTE's suck rule for me was Last of Us. The QTE's were generally rather forgiving in that it was almost impossible to fail them and they were well placed during cinematics where the QTE added to the tension of the scene.

drivers from AMD and patch fixed nothing for me, still getting bad FPS and Defender, Instinct, and Recovery maps don't load forcing me to ctrl-alt-delete and force stop the process.

^ bad fps drops

I was in your same boat so I went back and switched the preloading shaders off. Ill take some compromised gameplay in the beginning of a map instead of no gameplay. Got into every map that queued for me.

preloading shaders off allows me into those maps

but the stuttering lasts several minutes for me, pretty annoying. and im still annoyed by how poorly the game performs on my computer. and it seems to be a cpu bottleneck as during the times the fps drops, the GPU usage never goes over 60%

so an i5 2500k @ 4.0ghz seems to bottleneck the game

pretty nuts, considering what cpus the consoles have

QTEs are the ultimate low-hanging fruit.

They are ass simple to program, and facilitate the ULTIMATE in shallow flashiness that looks amazing (especially if you're 12.)

It is, essentially, the exact same tactic used to sell (horrible) FMV games in the '90s: "Amazing" visuals, absolute minimum of gameplay and player input, that appeals to those easily impressed or only playing in the most casual circumstances.

That's not to say QTE can't be used (sparingly) to good effect, but its overuse in games like this is obviously for the eye candy factor to wow the kids, I'd guess.
