Actually, it seems like most PC guys don't understand it either.

Before complaining about getting a new engine, consider the fact that Activision is developing for 7-year-old hardware, and this is the only way they can get it to run at 60fps on consoles. Since console gamers are their largest audience, they're going to develop for consoles first, therefore using the older engine. PC version then uses the same outdated technology.

If PC gamers were a bigger market to them, they'd probably see fit to make a new engine. But that's not the case. And why would they make a new engine for consoles that are already going out?

Pretty much. They're still making minor improvements to the engine, but they don't give a rats ass about PC. Their primary concern is making it look good on current gen consoles. And theyre hardly alone in that. EA is still carrying that torch for PC with BF at least....doesn't even seem like crytek is really pushing it anymore.

FWIW, I totally get why PC gamers are salty about cod. The series started on PC and now it's treated like the bastard child.

Graphics aside, MW3 plays like ass and they went from semi-realistic guns in BO, to the Fischer Price toys of the newer MW3. Tryarch has more creditability with the series now than Infinity Ward.

To me they sound and feel like pop guns. Pop guns that shoot like lasers and with the Kick perk they have literally zero recoil.

The game (talking about IW's MW2 & 3) has been dumbed down and consolized to the point that its just pathetic, they shouldnt even bear the once great CoD name.

Hopefully BO2 will at least offer true dedicated RANKED servers.

Shit graphics (not that I'm a graphics whore, but come on!) and just fucking "wat" to the horses, and drones attacking LA, and gumpy ass looking little mechs, and... I mean this trailer would have made more sense to have been released on April Fool's Day, but a general feeling of "wtf" followed by "hahahahaha!" is about all I can muster at this thing.

The perks and weapon mods were ridiculous, the textures and detailing of the guns were bland, and the sound fx are dull.

An m60 with rapid fire with everything attached to it but a toaster oven, almost deludes the purposes of using other options. The perks and mods almost puts you at a disadvantage if you're not using the more obvious choice.

I don't think I will be picking up any new COD's until they revamp the entire game. I have been paying $60-75 for each DLC(they call it a new game) and it is getting old.

I have played a lot of MW(INSERT NUMBER HERE) and BF3. Personally I don't find them comparable.

BF3 is based around large battles on large maps with vehicles.

MW is based around faster paced, small maps, with a perk system.

The issue MW has is it just has not changed. Things get rebalanced a bit with each release, and they change the weapon models. But its still a very old, dated looking engine that has been stretched WAY beyond what it should have ever been. But because this generation of consoles is being stretched to the limit, they have no reason to use a different engine. Just go with what they have and rake in the money.

This looks like they have lost there minds in regards to the "story". But nobody plays it for the single player anyway. They could seriously just release a multiplayer version and be fine.

But I have long since given up getting "excited" for a CoD game.

That's $200-260 right there that can be spent on awesome games. I can't even comprehend it.

The graphics in BO2 for 2012 are horrendous. The textures, character facial animations, character joints, shadows, destruction physics model (lack thereof), particle effects, explosions -- all awful. I'd give the graphics 3/10 by today's standards.

In fact Crysis 3 trailer makes COD BO2 look like a joke.

How do you ruin any franchise? Release it in annual instalments.

Oh, the reason so many people hate COD is because developers can sell this trash to millions of gamers year after year, which means so many developers try to copy this failed formulaic FPS game. As a result, studios take less risks because they all desire to produce a game that sells millions of copies like COD does.

The problem is the gamers who buy COD games are really ruining the gaming industry. Them and MMOs have single handedly killed solid single-player FPS games. In fact, the entire industry is focusing on multi-player now, which is just a disaster. COD was never like this. The original games actually had good substance, like the first Medal of Honor game. Now it's same crap over and over and over, and with horrible graphics now too because the game engine hasn't improved since MW1.

There is nothing wrong with Activision milking COD. A smart business would. What's wrong is that so many gamers find the game worthy of $60. That just shows how awful their gaming standards are. I would wager the vast majority of COD players are noobs who never played videogames in the 80s and 90s. I will admit I did have fun in MW1, but after that it really is the exact same game every year....

The Orca from C&C has been around for awhile.

The quadrotor thing in CoD is a fairly new real world technology

The quad copters in that pic exist. At least remote versions... So I'm not sure what your point is. They took something that exists today and put it in the game. Should we be upset that they're using guns too?
