COD: Black Ops Terrible PC Performance

Sad news for people who bought COD:BO, myself included on day 1 for the PC. Personally I am getting terrible framerates, and the game is stuttering in both SP and MP, though it is much worse in MP. Completely unplayable. Here's hoping Treyarch patches this soon...

Believe me it's not my PC. If you take a look at the thread mentioned in that article you will see even people with extremely high end PC's are having the issue. Not to mention I can run MW2 at Max w/ 8xAF.

Not tried MP yet, but SP, absouloutely shocking!

I'm running E8500 @4Ghz, 8GB 1066 DDR2 memory, GTX 260, and I ran MW2 brilliantly.

Not only did we have to wait to be able to unlock the game, but we get this rubbish and all. Not happy!

Sort it out treyarch! I'd hate to walk around saying COD is a game played better on the console.

If I could return a PC game I would return it right now... I can definitely understand server issues on day one, but it's not even isolated to MP. In SP I am getting 25-40FPS average, and the game has a momentary stutter every view seconds which throws off the whole experience. I sure hope they sort this out within the next few days.

This game is running fantastic for me in SP. Going to try MP tonite. I did encounter 2 different bugs though. In the classic "follow" COD mission on the very first mission of this game, the guy I'm supposed to follow got stuck in a wall and would not go anywhere. I could not progress any further no matter what I did. Had to restart after 20 minutes of game play. During the very same Fidel Castro mission I am in the compound upstairs and people are shooting at me from the outside, but there isn't a single window from which I can shoot them? You shoot through the window to try to break it and shoot the bad guys but it just distorts the window (for lack of a better word) and doesn't break it so you can't shoot anyone. But the graphics are superb and he game play is fine. If you liked MW2 you will like this. It's like the same game - just different sequences and environments.

My system is similar (E8400 @ 3.9Ghz, 4890, and 4GB RAM). Was thinking about picking it up in the next day or so, but now not so sure.

Honestly, if you didn't expect there to be problems with this game, then you know absolutely nothing about Treyarch. They've fucked up every game that they've released. Sure, they fix it down the line with patches, but I will NEVER buy a Treyarch game on launch day. It's almost 100% guaranteed to be buggy at best, if not unplayable.

I'm actually crashing and it's very choppy. I haven't tried MP but I figure I need to wait until it's patched. Pretty disappointing considering how bad people said MW2 was at launch while I was playing all night with zero issues, so I thought this would be similar.

I think that our government needs to come up with some consumer protection laws regarding video games. If a game is said to be playable on certain hardware, you meet those requirements, and the game still doesn't run properly, you should be entitled to a full refund.

I'm just angry about it because it's something that should have been found and fixed in QA. Then they charge $60 for the privilege of playing a buggy game from the start? Just leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

I'm certain it'll be fixed soon, but it should have never shipped that way, IMO. Hell, do a public beta test if you have to.

This is the first Treyarch game I bought at launch.
I have the exact same sentiments about DICE games though. I bought both BF2142 and BC2 on launch, and boy did I regret it then. FWIW, they turned out great after a few patches.

yeah, not sure how this is feasible. too many hardware configs, not to mention software and shit that people install that bog their systems down.

I am having quite a bit of jittering with SP. MP seems to be the same with the jittering although i haven't played it much. I notice that my CPU is pegged during gameplay and my GPU temps stay rather cool.

I know my CPU is towards the lower end of the requirements, but I honestly didn't expect it to be this laggy based on how well my comp handles MW2 on both SP and MP.

Here's hoping they fix it soon. As it stands now, the game is unplayable for me.

q6600 @ 3.0 and gtx 460/768 oc. i forgot to mention i did go into the config file and turned off multiGPU and enabled multithreading.
