COD MW2 Hacking/Cheating Ruining Game

I am so disappointed. Been playing shooters since Wolfenstein 3D. I can hold my own, been in plenty of clans etc during the past 10+ years but in COD MW2 it's OUT OF CONTROL.

Take a look at youtube and there are tons of video clips of aimbotters, wallhacks, etc.

Any post in the Steam forums related to discussing how IW isn't addressing it is quickly closed. Sad thing is I love the shooter but this past weekend was so bad I just tossed in the towel.

Guy logs in the game gets 50+ kills in like 3 minutes NUKE. Spawning PWNED in chat. Time and time again seems there is a wallhacker almost in every game. All you have to do is watch the killcams.

So bummed out I really want to love this game and play it but just can't. I hope they fix the situation. I was hesitant about the no-dedicated servers thing but I guess I'm out $60.

I was playing with a friend the other day and he ended up being the end game kill. When watching the killcam, he was inside a concrete building (had just run inside and you could not see him at all) and some guy with a shotgun, who was clearly way outside of range shoots 1 time and kills him.

I think given the circumstances EVERYONE should cheat in this game. Teach them what happens when they remove dedicated servers.

I've logged in almost 9 days of playing time in MW2 multiplayer and I've probably ran across 6 legitimate aimbotters/hackers.

All this talk about hackers running rampant in MW2 is ridiculous. There are some very good players in the game and many people are quick to accuse someone of hacking just b/c that player simply dominates the game. Someone walking around with Ninja Pro, hears your footsteps, turns around and kills you may look like wall hacking during the killcam but is simply being a smart/better player.

Are there hackers in MW2 - Yes...is it any more than any other online game - NO.

I've logged almost 2days worth of MW2 and close to 500 matches. I've seen about 15 legitimate hackers in the game, more or less. The types that are just blatantly hacking without any shadow of a doubt.

And I get accused of hacking all the time, I have a 5.1 surround headset and I run Ninja Pro, I literally hear players approaching long before I see them. If you're inside the Spetsnaz office building on Highrise, your footsteps are LOUD off the wooden floors.

I was 28-0 in one match recently after a good Chopper Gunner spree and people started bitching...etc.

The thing to watch out for in MW2 is rushing, be careful when you do that. I get smacked down hard when I try to play aggresive. Also, don't try the 'edging' game. That's the, I'll poke just barely enough of my body around a corner and try to kill the guy that knows I'm there. It never works in this game. In Battlefield it does... but the guns in MW2 are laser beams in comparison to BF. You die in a heartbeat.

Just keep playing is my suggestion, especially if you enjoy the game. And when you run into the random aimbotter (they're obvious), just leave and find another game. I find it preferable to switch gametypes when that happens to avoid getting matched into the same session.

many times I have tried to shoot people even at close range with a shotgun and it doesn't even hit them yet I get killed in 1 shot from twice the distance.

It's the game makers fault for having the stupid matchmaking and not allowing dedicated servers when you can have admins to regulate in the game.

Killcams make people paranoid. I'm guilty myself at times, but I can easily say that 99% of players on MW2 are totally legitimate, but the 1% are definitely annoying as all hell. I've also at times considered getting an Xbox to get away from these losers.

Losing dedicated servers was the best thing that ever happened to MW2. Matchmaking makes life infinitely easier for people like myself that just want to get into a game without any crappy mods, without being forced to play the same two damn maps each time...etc.

This is precisely why I've been holding off on dropping 60 dollars on this game, or even 50. Sure, the "rush" would be cool at first, but cheating ruins nearly everything. Cheating at card/board games ruins those, too.

I sincerely hope this isn't the way online gaming is headed as a whole.

I actually find it much more amazing that you've played 216 hours and have only come across 6 hackers.

Just to be clear are you playing on PC? There have been days where I'd play for 5-6 hours and I'd come across 6 legitimate aimbotters, but then again I play Ground War 99% of the time which is supposedly hacker central. Some days I'd get lucky and go an entire session for 4 hours in ground war without a hacker, and some days I'll get back to back hackers. My record so far has been 4 in a row.

You probably see less hackers in other game modes since there's not as many enemies to kill and these guys are just trying to rack up kills for prestige mode.

To compensate for inaccuracies of gamepads, MW2 on the PS3/Xbox has a feature called "aim-assist." If you aim down the sights of a gun when pointing it close to an enemy, is automatically snaps to that player.

I find it humorous when people say they want to play on consoles to avoid hacks. This essentially is a unsophisticated aimbot. No thanks, I'll stick to the PC.

I play Merc TDM and reg TDM 99% of the time so I can't comment on Ground War. Maybe there is that many in GW, but there is definitely not that many on TDM. Try it out.

I play regular TDM on occasion when I can't find a GW game under 90 ping. The only issue is you don't get enough bonus XP and one of the addicting things about this game is earning XP. I like racking up 4000 XP per win playing GW Domination

Have you ever hacked in any game before? I did it for like 2 weeks back in CS 1.5 days and if you ever have you can tell when someone is cheating. I'd say about 1 of every 3 games there is someone hacking. Either blatantly spinning aimbot, subtle aimbot, no recoil, or just plain wall. This is coming from someone who has gotten over 50+ nukes with only like 4 game days played.

Edit. Didnt read your later post. Yea I play ground war as well. Maybe its a GW thing.

Umm no it's not. All console fps's have it and if everyone uses it, it makes it 100% fair. Not even the same.

That's pretty ridiculous. I've played TF2 since the beta (Sept. 2007) and I've run into maybe 4 hackers in all that time (3 of which I managed to get banned from servers I frequent, the other one I'm still compiling evidence on).

it's pretty retarded when someone comes in than goes 30-1, nukes and leaves within ~3 minutes. as soon as i see someone hacking, i just leave and goto another server/game mode.

probably why i have over 400 losses lol but i don't care about win/loss anyways.
anyone notice that invite doesn't work well that great? i invite my friend, we party up
and when trying to join a game it probably kicks 1 of us off 85% of the time.
and we'll have to exit the game, take the loss, repeat until we can both join a game.
usually 3rd or 4th try, we can both get into the same game.

My will power in avoiding MW2 so far is currently holding...helped in great part by the game's stubbornly high $60 selling price. I have never paid over $45 for any game my entire life and I'm not about to start now. It also helps I play L4D2 daily and also have 7 games from the Steam Xmas sale still in the queue.

But I am extremely disappointed in the frequency of threads and incidents of noted and obvious hacking in this game. There is no way I'm going to buy it, even at a future reduced price, if this problem isn't addressed.

Hopefully the price won't come down before spring and by then BF BC2 will be out...and I'll be playing that exclusively most likely.

I would be happy with a vote/kick as others have stated. I'm not a stat monger by any means but it does suck to take a loss to leave a game where there is a hacker. Ultimately I'd like IW to lock down the game from hacking. But that's probably asking too much since they are probably spending all their resources on the next thing already.

There really isn't much to discuss about the subject. If IW implemented a votekick feature, at the very LEAST this would REALLY help out..a great deal. i can live without dedicated servers, since it's 1 in 30 games you join that lag. Now if we had votekick, we could votekick the host and get a new host ..votekick would make the game better!
