COD2 Benchmarks??

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card, primarily for COD2. Really need to see how this game performs on the various cards out there, but COD2 benchmarks are conspicuously missing from even the most recent video card reviews I can find. C'mon, the game's been out for 2 weeks! Does anyone know of any review sites that have started benching COD2?

P.S. Hey review sites (including Anandtech) - COD2 will be one of the biggest sellers of the holiday season, and because it's a resource hog many gamers will want to upgrade to play the game. Give us some benchmarks!

something with the numbers 7800 in it. My 6800 Ultra OC does *not* play this game at any reasonable resolution with aa/af on...

I want to see COD2 benchies also. From what I'm hearing, its such a freakin' resource hog I may not want to play it if I have to go into freakin' DX7 mode

COD2 runs very very smooth on my 7800GTX / AMD X2 rig but for some reason its a real dog on my P4 / 6800GT setup even in 640x480, FEAR runs much better than COD2 on the P4 as well.

That's only if you crank up every game setting. If you leave Dynamic lights at normal, corpses to low, set smooth smoke edges to none and set Texture settings to Extra/Extra/Extra you can get 35-40FPS with an overclocked X800XL. I play at 1024x768 4xAA/16xAF with those above settings and get 35-40FPS with minimum FPS of 25 or so. Switching Texture settings to High/High/High doesn't degrade the visuals much (mainly unoticeable unless you stop to look say, soldier's uniforms closely) and gave me around 50FPS . . .

Well on my 5900XT (When the game works, see post in Software) I have to run in DX7 mode. When in DX7 mode i can run with everything maxed at 12x10 (Native Resolution)

I tried to get DX9 to run decently but really couldn't. I couldn't run it with Texture settings at high, shadows off, dynamic lights on normal, 10x7, Bilinear, No AA. I didn't really want to go any lower, but if i get the game actually working consistently, then i might try to lower the texture detail some more and turn on DX9 mode.

Edit: A couple things i forgot.

Even in DX7 mode, with everything maxed the game looks damn fine. Nothing on DIII or HL2 (Lack of Pixel Shading) but everything is still very nicely rendered.

When you guys say SLI in this game, there is an option. When benchmarking in SLI have you guys verified that the "Optimize for SLI" option is enabled?

Also dont be too discouraged by my results. I can barely run FEAR, so people with a 9800Pro or above should be able to scrounge some decent settings.

Actually, in the article they say "In fact, CoD 2 is so demanding that we didn?t even crank up all the eye candy settings to their maximums for this article, and we?re testing with the fastest hardware on the planet right now!"

However, they do note that the custom demo they used for benchmarking is very intensive, "with 26 players on the server and smoke grenades popping off everywhere." Sounds like a typical online match to me. So I think their benchmarks provide a pretty reliable indication of the multiplayer performance even *without* all quality setting cranked to the max.

Clearly this is a game that requires the absolute fastest hardware available (and not yet available) to be experienced in all it's glory.

Firingsquad's benchmarks show the advantage of 512 MB VRAM quite nicely. Hopefullly this'll finally dispel the myth that 256 MB is all you need.
