What makes it better? I'll tell you my opinion.
The fast-paced action. I didn't realize just how SLOW Halo 3 is until I went back and played it again last night after a few weeks of nothing but COD4. Halo 3 feels you are walking in molasses. When I first joined the custom games last night I thought maybe there was a setting turned on to make the game play in slow motion, but there wasn't.
In Halo 3 you have to unload 2 clips into a guy, then melee him to kill him. That is, if he doesn't melee you at the exact same time and wins and you end up dying.
In COD4 if you shoot someone in the head they die, end of discussion. None of this running in circles bunny hopping like retards while unloaded 2-3 clips into other people then trying to elbow them in the face after the weak ass guns failed to kill them. You can tell who the Halo 3 players are in COD4 when they try to hop around as you shoot at them. They find out really quick you can't do that same stuff in COD4. hopping gets you no where
It just seems like halo 3 frustrates me more than any game ever has before. It's so frustrating that it ends up not being fun at all. I like playing in the custom games with AT members, but that's because I just don't care what my score is in those games.
There is also none of this race to the good weapons stuff. You set up your classes, and that's it. you dont' have to start out every map running to get the sword or grav hammer. There are UAV's in COD4, but they have to be earned by getting 3 kills in a row without dying. I HATE in Halo 3 how the enemy can always see you on their radar no matter what.
But the icing on the cake in COD4 is the perks. It adds so much to the gameplay. I love using stopping power + deep impact. Nothing beats killing a sniper through the walls after he ducks down below the window. I've even been killed by random fire through walls when the other person didn't even know I was there.
Maybe I'm just more into realistic shooters (R6:Vegas, COD4, etc), but COD4 is a very well rounded game and is a hell of a lot of fun. As I've said before, every single person on my friends list who had been playing halo 3 up until COD4 was released, hasn't touched halo 3 since.
On top of all of this, COD4 is GORGEOUS.
