CoD4 - PC version

i decided that since i plan on selling my xbox before college, that i'd get one of my favorite games on it - cod4. the game absolutely sucks on the PC with nadefests (due to the fact that there are almost no servers with 16-player cap), laggers, and bad spawns because of all the servers with huge player-caps.
i highly recommend anyone who has been turned off from the PC version to get the 360 version.

Um, no. Pick good servers. Something you cant do on the console version.

The only maps I've ever had trouble with nade spamming was shipment and wet work. Everything else, no problem.

LOL don't agree with this assessment at all.

One annoyance of mine is why all of the HC TDM (my favorite mode) servers are obsessed with some of the worst maps like Crossfire. That and servers with 100 rules. I understand a few rules but some servers are so ridiculous it limits your items and options to half of what it should be. But both of those are due to stupid server admins and not COD4 on PC.

Sorry guys, but some FPSes are better on the consoles due to the increasing stupidity of the players (and then, server admins) on PCs. It's not fun trying to find a 24 player TF2 match, or one without instarespawn. Both? There's like 3 servers. I imagine COD4 might be the same way.

I know, I know, I prefer KB+M too, and I love mods, but people need to learn to play the game the way it was meant to be played.

the fact that you can "ghost" after you die in a lot of servers (which is something i try to avoid) fucks up stuff.

i doubt that many of you guys own both versions which is why you guys are all saying that the PC version is better (also cause i'm posting on the PCgaming forum). Some games are just better for the console (cod4) while others are better for the PC (counterstrike).

on the console, everything is a good server cause there aren't any stupid server-mods which often aren't posted on the server name before you join it and find out for yourself.

Have you tried hardcore? I used to stay away from it but once I tried it I haven't gone back. Makes the game a lot more fun. Also, a lot of HC servers ban last stand, martyrdom and tubes which all made the game extremely gay anyways.

yea i like it when i'm in the mood for it, but most of the time, i'm more of a regular team deathmatch player. it's just really hard to find a good server with the exact combos that i'm looking for most of the time.

Hardcore mode blows. It completely destroys what little weapon and perk balance there already was.

I've been playing COD 4 again recently, and I started noticing how ridiculously unbalanced most of the maps are. Vacant has one team starting in a little room with two easily camped exits and the other team spawning outside with tons of room. Downpour has the SAS spawn in a relatively cramped area with high ground right above it and an MG covering one of the choke points which can be sprayed all the way into the spawn. Crossfire spawns the Marines out in the open and in the diner in plain view of snipers, meanwhile Opposing Force spawns around the corner from the main fight and in cover, and they also get the best sniping spot on the entire map 10 feet from their spawn. You can't snipe from the Marine spawn building because the HDR lighting makes the outside too bright when you're inside it. Bog is completely the reverse: Marines have all the cover and high ground, and Opposing Force spawns in a tiny death trap.

Are you really serious? Wow, the only reason I could see you liking the console version over the PC version is because you like the controller better than the M&K and even still I think you could get your controller to work with your PC for this game. I mean the PC is the exact same thing as the console version except BETTER because, you have the same options... but for PC you can have potentially better connectivity (dedicated servers vs connecting to shitty player connections) and more customization(mods,server rules etc etc) and the most obvious better graphics and frame rate potential. Seems like it to me you just haven't took the time to find the right server to play on. I have servers in my favorites 16 player caps all the up to 32, servers which restrict noob tubes and stuff. It's way better than on Xbox 360 in fact I sold my Call of Duty 4 on 360 to pick up the PC version and I got a kickass deal from Craigslist too, bought it for $5 and the cd-key is all clean! I guess the dude really did play campaign only.

Not disagreeing, just curious. if COD4 is the noob-friendliest then what is the Pro's FPS? Because 99.9% of FPS include your top 3 attributes listed.

how long have you been playing PC games? if you are new to it, you may find some tweaks to fix some of your issues, the other global issues you may have a problem with

you actually dont spray and pray. you literally aim and spray which is something that games like Counter-Strike (which uses the non-spray and pray tactic) lack.

been playing them for more than 10 years now. i've been using my console along with my PC for the last 2 years though.

Are you kidding? Xbox live is a cesspool of immature kiddie dolts who do nothing but act like douchebags. It's like entering a world of youtube comments when you play most of the time.

And I have no idea how people have so much trouble finding servers in TF2, there are hundreds of them.
