At this point, I'm not sure. I really enjoy COD4 (both the SP and MP), but the MP seems well, hectic. I tend to play FFA only, so that's obviously part of the problem.
For COD5, the smaller maps and somewhat slower pace reminds me of COD1 and COD2.

It's hard to compare the games directly but I enjoy both. By change, I meant going from the accuracy of the M4 with a laser sight in COD4 to the Thompson in WAW. Completely different feel.

I've not played any of the SP campaign in WAW, but I don't anctipate it can match COD4. The campaign in Modern Warware is simply awesome.

Your online profile is your name. You can make a new profile with a new name and you will lose all your rank, or you can simply change your current profile name to change your game name and keep your rank.
If you enjoy bolts on cod4 you can stop by my server, bolts 2, custom maps, extreme mod, the ip is 63.211.111.127 it is usually full in the evenings. Don't get discouraged at the dl times for the maps, they are large, and great fun if you like custom maps.
In w@w a Thompson, a full drum a couple of bettys and a N74 nade is great fun.

How do you change your profile name? I don't see any option to do that.

[Edit] Nevermind. I think I found some info online that shows how to change it.

Thanks for the server invite -- I'll be checking it out. I joined a tactical bolt only server with a bolt mod last night that downloaded several maps, so I may already have the same ones that you use.

You are most welcome to stop by anytime. I doubt you will have the maps, my server is for map whores, they are always changing. But, you won't die because someone knows every square inch of the map by heart because they dont stay too long.

I would say update PB and make sure you have all the updates. I have not had a problem with WaW unless it was a zombie map with a bad load.ff file. That is was quick fix of putting "aa" after the "load"

I occasionally had trouble with COD4 and PB, but using the setup tool from their website cleared all that up. COD WAW has been smooth sailing.

Sorry to hear you folks are having these problems.

My son and I play both COD-MW and WaW, and love both games. I like the maps w/ WaW a bit better. We have had no problems w/ lockups. Internet server play is fast.

It seems like 8/10 times i try to pick a server that i am not 100% sure works.. i get hung up at Awaiting Connection. And then when i try to play again the game refuses to connect to the online account server no matter how many times i restart WaW.

Very frustrating. I just stick to the couple servers i know work.

Are you using a wireless connection? There's a thread somewhere over at Hardforum about how to reduce problems with wireless and Vista in Multiplayer games like COD.

I have a wireless router, but my PC is connected by ethernet to the router.

Word of advice - don't buy COD games that aren't made by Infinity Ward. WaW isn't even comparable to CoD4 IMO.

The only thing that might save this game is decent mods and some jaw dropping custom maps.

This is relatively new server, but from an established cod2 Bolt Rifles group.

It has a COD2 weapon modification that includes: Recoil, gun swaying, guns sounds, and general feel is just like cod2 bolt rifles

Guys,

I think some of these probs. are because of Vista. We run COD-MW and WaW with XP with NO problems. When we began to read reviews/problems w/ Vista we stayed with Win XP. We will go with Windows 7 when it comes out.

I don't have any problems under Vista X64 (other than sometimes the game drops out of Fullscreen).

OP, do you have a software firewall that's blocking the ports by any chance? Like McAfee or Norton?

Same here, mine runs fine on Vista x64. Aside from my SLI acting up and flickering, which I had to swap my GTX 285s' places on the mobo to fix, it plays great.
