this is obviously not a hot deal. 13 dollars for a shirt plus 4 dollars shipping? com'on. There's a refund supposely but they are still charging you 13 dollars on the checkout page!?

this is a company that's exploiting this opportunity for their own gains, they are stirring up sentiments against riaa/mpaa and raking in profits from it, which, ironically, runs contrary to the purose of the code printed on their t-shirts.

unless this is a ira 501c3 organization, or they have decided to donate all proceeds to digg, do NOT let them take advantage of you.

meanwhile, i DO urge you to pass out 09f911029d74e35bd*4156c56356**c0 flyers or anything you can think of, using any resources you have. Use that company printer if you have to, don't get yourself fired though....

ps. edited the code before the *beep* *beep* mods do anything. they banned coupon codes who knows what they might do next. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

...

.....

How do they exploit us anymore than any other shirt companies?

Agreed, it's a normal T-shirt price. Plus the discount gets put on your account at the end of the day, which you would have found out if you bothered to read. Which already takes care of the shipping, and then some.

> what happened to digg

A user posted the code on digg and it was immediately taken down by one of the administrators. This sparked a short-lived war between the admins and the users with the admins trying to delete all "code" topics while the user posted more. What eventually happened was that the digg frontpage was covered in "code" topics by the end of the night. Kevin Rose eventually came out and said that they would not take anymore topics down (in a sense telling the MPAA and AACS to f-themselves) and the community returned to normal.

And everyone lived happily ever after.

T-Shirts want to be free! After all, it is just easily copied bits... ummm. Wait a second. It is actually cotton, which has to be cultivated, spun into threads, woven into cloth, dyed, cut, sewed, and decorated. Never mind. T-Shirts should cost money.

If you found this shirt at Dillards, they would charge $20 for it.

How is the quality?

No it doesn't. How the f**k is it defeating the purpose? I don't think this money is going to any company involved in the HD-DVD business so I fail to see how it 'defeats the purpose'. This wasn't about just straight up piracy, this is now partly about free speech, fair use, and why somebody can now 'own' a string of numbers.

yeah...so let me clarify: the whole point of all this stuff is 'free'. it costs money to buy the shirt. when you can easily do it for free by yourself. free. thats it. so you (and whoever else who misinterpreted my statement) can calm down and refrain from any more curse/outbreaks.

Hand on a sec while I go get my cotton gin out of the closet and make myself a t-shirt.

Yes it costs money to buy the shirt when you can make it for free. But it costs time and money to make one too, and quality might suffer as well. The point is that the biggest deal with that code right now is the freedom of speech and fair use part, not so much the money.

Yeah, no kidding. Screw the code. You could write it down on a piece of paper if that was all this was about. The last I knew you can't wear a piece of paper. You are paying for a shirt. What is wrong with somebody making money selling a shirt? If you don't like it don't buy it. It is reasonably priced and you not only get the code to show off but you get to wear a t-shirt as well. A win win combo. I don't see how this is exploiting anyone. You want it, you buy it. You think it is too pricey, you write down the code and fire up the cotton gin and knit your own damn t-shirt. Simple as that.

surprisingly...the only person that understood me now was Gorcorps. thanks. people have many shirts. blank white t-shirts that they have an abundance of. markers too. on the side, i work for musicians by designing shirts. some of my best work have just been a sharpie and a plain tee. as for this cotton gin crap (assuming we're talking about one from the 1800's, because the modern gins would be take up too much space and be far too heavy to move around)........it wont work unless you're on a southern plantation with a few n-word jims on your payroll. but if you are pro-slavery, then owning a shirt with some numbers emblazoned on it should be the least of your worries. anyways....i dont care about this thread anymore. i'm going downtown to drink it up for cinco. and i'll be wearing my homemade design of art.

You're just paranoid. 99% of the population won't understand what the shirt is about.
