Although the print ad (got it this morning) lists the 9600 under weekly specials, I checked the rebate online and it's only valid from 11/27-11/29. So don't think you can wait and get the card later in the week, b/c it really is a BF deal, though it's not on the front page (6AM-Noon section).

*Edit: YMMV, the Rockville,MD BB had two cards left in stock as of Wednesday, 11/26, around 4:30 PM. Going by their lack of GF3TI200's in stock BF 2001, I wouldn't go there expecting to get the deal if I were you. A BB guy also told me that they would only be doing coupons for the computers, not the card, though that may only be the rockville store.

See you all at the Shady Grove, MD BB tomorrow

Im planning on getting this card, will anyone advise against it, or have any opinions on it?

(EDIT) It does seem to have VGA/TV/DVI from ATi's web site. It's an excellent deal for $70AR.

It's not exactly a speed demon. Overall it's about the same speed as the FX 5600 Ultra. That's still very usable.

Knights of the Old Republic won't work with it, reportedly. Grrr... still, nice deal.

I'm not buying an nvidia just to play one game (thought I am tempted).

How does this card compare to the 9500 Pro?

Although the print ad (got it this morning) lists the 9600 under weekly specials, I checked the rebate online and it's only valid from 11/28-11/29. So don't think you can wait and get the card later in the week, b/c it really is a BF deal, though it's not on the front page (6AM-Noon section).

I don't think it would matter anyway because the card will be out of stock for the week within the first half hour of the sale.

LOL, you are soooo mistaken. first, this is a 9600, not a 9600 pro sooooo you'll be lucky if u can even get it to OC to a 9600 pro

anyway, frys has a 5600 ultra for $98 no rebates if someone misses out on this

IMO...It is a great price for the card, but for me, since it's not that much faster than my current card (GeForce 3 Ti200) I decided to hold off on a card upgrade for a while. From what I've read, the memory on the card limits the overclocking potential.

I actually picked one up last week and returned it after I'd read more about the overall video card "scene" (i.e., this performs better than that under DX9, etc.).

If you are "honestly" on a tight budget and your current video card is less than a GF3 (and/or your games play slow), I'd say go for it.

I wish Best Buy would have offered a 9600 Pro for $100. I would have picked up that deal

The card I almost bought was the 5900 NU for $177.00 (not available for this price now). But after reading items suggesting that the card may never (i.e., not even with driver updates) be able to run DX9 games very well (i.e., with all the goodies turn on and with fast FPS, etc.). I decided against this card also.

I plan I picking up a 9800 NP IF the prices come down to ~$175 (for retail).

Anyway...Good Luck with your decision.

Bud.

Wasn't the reason for the Ti200 shortage 2 years ago because people were buying it ahead of time to repurchase on BF?

I missed out on that deal because the staff was confused about it. They were bringing individual cards out to certain people, while telling others the cards were on the shelf and telling others to wait in the line where the memory and hard drives used to be.

Hey, gotta agree with you, except that if/when I get this 9600, I'll be selling my gf3ti200 to a friend for 20$ good deal for him, 50$ 9600 for me. I'm thinking the 9600, even though it ain't the pro will be able to handle half-life 2 better in terms of features. opinions?
