Neverwinter Nights 2: Limited Edition - $60 NEW.

I notice that we're lacking a "Collector's thread". I don't really know what it will turn into, but I want one started and going. It can be to help each other find something, for bragging rights, to mention they have something in the FS/FT thread.

To start it off; with the new Torment game coming out, I'm wanting to build up my collection of old PC RPG's; specifically the Bioware ones (BG I, BGII, IWD I, IWD II, PS:T, SW:KOTOR I, SW:KOTOR II, etc...)

I'm looking for the original, sealed, big box editions; I know there are a lot of the UK versions available that are new, but I want the originals.

If anyone seems them somewhere, please mention it. I scour eBay and it's hard to find those specifically since so many of the cheaper ones are available. I did find a sealed version of the 1999 GOTY Big Box edition of PS:T, but it was $100 and I'm not quite ready to shell that out yet unless I can't find it somewhere else cheaper. You can easily tell if they're the cheap UK ones because they're listed with a PEGI rating.

As of right now, I have no bragging rights since I sold my game collection a few years ago to help with paying for our wedding and house down payment, so those are all gone (I'll miss you sealed Final Fantasy for Nintendo), and now that we have more money available and we both budget "fun money", I want to fill up my bookshelf again

Those old classics are expansive if you want the original big box editions, especially so if you want it sealed. $100 sounds about right.

The original BG and IWD don't seem too bad, but PS:T is definitely high up there (which I expected).

Edit - they are VERY expansive!

> I'm looking for the original, sealed, big box editions;

But then you'll never get to hold the cloth maps, or read the thick manuals, or look at the other swag. I have a bunch of the big boxes (PS:T, BG II, Icewind, Fallout...) that I bought at the time of release, but they're all opened and played with.

Why not start with used but good condition ones first, then hunt for sealed ones to stick in a closet?

But I'm not really a collector, so I might have the wrong mindset to be posting here

I have my disc versions in the closet, but I repurchased them all on GOG (IWD 1+2, BG1+2, PST, NWN 1, and some other old RPGs)

I don't have much of a collection when it comes to PC games (at least as far as physical games go, my Steam account on the other hand....lol). I have a large collection of console games though that are rare/sealed.

I used to have them, so I've experienced them. I now also have the digital editions that will actually work on my computer from GOG. I just want them for the collection purposes; they'll sit well with my sealed editions of Torment and Project Eternity.

Theres special DVD collectors editions of all the D&D games, I got the one with IWD and BG and NWN 1 a while back. 20 dollars.
Was worth it to move up from CD's.

Of course, GOG is actually easier. One big EXE file, single click installation, no disc check. Yeah, if its on GOG, use that. Seriously.

You...kind of missed the whole point :-\

I don't have any sealed originals, but I do have alot of older game memorabilia, like the original X-Wing on floppies, still with the ads/cards that were in the box.

I also like non-boxed game things like old PC Gamer discs. Have the first Call of Duty (2003), Tomb Raider (1997), Diablo (1996), and even the first Elder Scrolls demo of Daggerfall (1997). Going to frame all of these one day.

What is the draw of sealed older games? Just so you can resell them later?

Maybe, in the far future. Since they're all available digitally, I just like the idea of mint, sealed copies sitting on the shelf, aging like a fine wine

Hmm...maybe mint boxed editions is the way to go. I really want sealed but maybe until I have the cash up for it I can get ones that are open. Then I can enjoy the innards and later resell and get sealed.

Anyone know if there are different boxed versions of the KOTOR games? I see them at like Target still but don't know if they're the original types.

KOTOR 1-2 originals are on CD-ROM so if those are DVDs then they're newer. 1 was in a DVD-sized cardboard box, 2 was in a DVD-sized plastic case (as thick as 2-3 cases, with a "stack pack" spindle for the CDs).

A seller on Amazon has the Limited Edition of NWN2 sealed for $60. Snagged one:
NWN2 Limited New

If anyone spots the original NWN Collector's Edition for under $100 new, lmk.

One thing about older boxed games, they often came with nice things - several hundred page manuals weren't uncommon, and other stuff.

Infocom was famous for including a variety of game related 'goodies' that added to the immersion of the text games.

Does anyone remember if the first Baldur's Gate was shrink wrapped or sticky tabbed? Grabbed a new, sealed BG1 off of eBay today but it's sticky tabbed and makes me wonder if that's right...

No I got the CD version a LONG time ago. Have replaced it with DVD's and downloads so many times I honestly dont recall.

It may have been paper sleeves for the 5 discs but I dont recall how the box was done.

I need a storage system, I can't find my old copy anytime soon to check for you. As I was typing that, I spotted it.

Oversized box, price tag $44.99 from Electronics Boutique.

It has a folding cover with no sticky, and had tape on the package sealing it, no shrink wrap or sticky tabs on this box.

About all that's left of my collection of PC games is the manual for fallout 1 and Myth 1, plus I have the cd's for Myth 1&2 still. I used to have a of boxes but my mom would always sneakily give them away at garage sales, she sold some SNES and NES games in particular that are worth a lot nowadays.

Maybe I'll add to the pictures the OP posted, and we can get something started here. Always interesting looking at these collections.
