College Acceptance Letters!!!??!!!

Got UCLA CS and E and UC Irvine (also got into this Irvine Honors Program).

USC doesn't receive anywhere near the amount of applications UCLA does. (which should be around 40,000 this year methinks) i also don't regard USC to be of the same academic caliber as UCLA or berkeley. they also accept 34% of applicants (which seems really low... i got into USC with my eyes closed) whereas ucla is about 29%. berkeley is 26% (us news reports data)

i remember i got into usc like in late jan or feb, UCSD in like mid march, and UCLA and UCB came at the end of march/beginning of april.

i just applied to transfer to johns hopkins and texas a&m... jhu is a long shot, but i really want to go there. it seems like a really friendly school...

Freesia, USC is becoming quite the competitive school. Each year they are becoming more selective and they are raising their standards. I agree that it is not on the same academic caliber as UCLA or UCB.

So far I've been accepted to UNC Chapel Hill's and UMASS Ph. D. programs in math... full rides too (much more common in grad school)! Still waiting to hear from the majority of my schools.

Rejected by Cornell.. they're nothing but a bunch of dorks anyway. UNC is flying me down in a few weekends to check out the school... I can't wait!

For any of those waiting for letters from the University of Wisconsin, don't hold your breath. Admissions have been suspended as of Friday due to budget quarrels with the state assembly, sorry. You should eventually receive a letter informing you of that, although the good news is if you were already accepted you're good to go.

Two of my friends heard back from them getting accepted. One was rejected at first but his father and sister went/go, so he wormed in somehow.

I think April 13 is the day they mail out acceptances.

I got accepted at Tulane, BYU and Clarkson so far, I'm waiting on Reed, Harvey Mudd and MIT. MIT is a snow ball's chance in hell, I pretty much kissed that check for the application fee goodbye because it's not going to get me anything but a "We're sorry to inform you that..." letter.

I guess I am not alone here diving into math. What field are you heading into? Algebra, Number Theory, Combinatorics/Discrete Math for me.

And for guys who have not hear yet,
Don't sweat it! It is still early to tell if they have sent out letters. Plus, worry doesn't pay off at all! So, not very good business there. Just sit back and wait for a while. I remember not hearing from the majority of my schools until later half of March when I applied for undergrads. Of course, my rejections came much earlier than that...

Berkeley may not come until April.

Last year they were a month later than normal, which was already the latest of all the UC's.

UCLA and UCB will be the latest of all.

By the way, Acceptance Letter is a misnomer with the UC's (well I only know this for sure with LA and Cal). If you get a letter, you didn't get in. If you get a packet however, congrats.

ahh i remember those days. i can't believe i'm gonna be a 3rd year next year!! dayam... i was 4 for 5. in at berkeley, ucla, sd and washington university (st louis). the one rejection i got from stanford. =P yeah, "snowball's chance in hell". i love being a bruin though. chose em over berk for the regents scholarship. berkeley didn't want me bad enough. good luck all. i'll be applying again in 2 years....for md or md/phd....yay.

UCLA and UCB always send their acceptance letter out later than the other UC's. If your a dude... dont go to UCB if your in it for the gurls. The infamous "Berkeley Vision" is true... go to UCLA... foods better and they dont have weird weather. I'm at UCB, i love the school but i hate the ultra competitive people and the lack of hot chicks. You should also decide which system would be better for you, UCB is on semester and UCLA is on quarter. This could impact you depending on your study habits. NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT GO TO UCD. Its boring there and you cant ride your bike drunk.... If you go to UCB excpect to study and study often, you may have been the sh*t in high school but your nothing here.

Yay! Another UCSB-er. I thought I was the only one on the forums. hehe

Anyway, come to UCSB! The weather's awesome and yes, there ARE people here who don't drink or "party" (although I suppose you could do that if you really wanted to). I think about 10 people in my hall of 40+ drink, and only 2 or 3 do so regularly. Of course, I'm told that my hall is one of the most-unique halls ever... We like it so much that almost 20 of us are staying in the same rooms next year. Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

This is an excellent plan. I went to RPI, BSME in '94. My good friend transferred in junior year after attending a SUNY, he ended up with the same degree as me and saved a frickin bundle on tuition.
