wow, acceptences just now coming? lol.

yes, i was spoiled. and no, it wasnt early acceptence.

purdue has rolling admission, so i knew late august.

computer technology, hoping to pull >3.5 first semester and transfer into electrical engineering.

Accepted to Iowa Central CC School of Aviation, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Doesn't exactly carry the prestige of Cornell or Vanderbilt, but I'll be flying planes 6 days a week for the next 2 years, so I'm pleased. Congrats to all of those that made it to the schools they wanted. (Swanny if you read this, congratulations on getting nominated by Senator Harkin for the USNA)

Almost certain I will go with U of M, unless Tech gives me a lot of scholarship offerings.

So far I have recieved a non-renewable $1500 from U of M, and a $4000/yr renewable from Tech. That makes it a bit more difficult to decide.

Got into my ultimate safety, University of Florida, a few weeks ago. Now waiting for all the April Fools letters to come

<--planning on getting into some Ivy U or equivalent, hopefully.

3/31: Duke U. I'm in! Go Blue Devils!

Nobody in my school has good news today

Overall, I feel very fortunate because all I got into was Univ Fla and Duke. Shows how brutal the process is. I'll be thanking my admin officer at Duke sooo much!

Check sig. I got accepted into RPI Early Action, and got deferred to Normal Admission for MIT. So right now I am waiting for MIT Normal, Columbia, and Maryland. If I somehow get into MIT, I am going to discuss with my parents whether they will allow me to go or not because RPI has given me $15k a year.

KraziKid, the average financial aid grant at MIT and other Ivy-league schools is like $18 to 20k. Duke is the exception since its need-based aid is only about $8k on average.

MIT isn't Ivy League, bub. But since you're referring to Ivy and Ivy-equivelant schools, you are right -- I got $30k/yr from Cornell and $16k/yr from Rice when I applied a couple of years ago. I don't remember any of the other schools, though.

But, yeah. At the top schools, financial aid packages are very generous, because they are need-blind and have huge endowments. Case in point for Rice, Cornell, &c. If your parents can't afford it, you will get the money you need so you can. And if you don't get any because of some assets, and those assets can't be liquidated, you can always renegotiate -- I went from $0 a year at Cornell to $30k/yr after a phone call before May 1st. Of course, I turned them down, but anyway...

Well my parents can afford it, it's just a matter of them wanting to part with the money. The difficult part of me going to MIT isn't the money, it is getting accepted.
