Pretty much nothing I did in college was useful. Though there was this one earth science course where we went on field trips every weekend and got drunk, that was awesome.

I liked business economics. That's the only thing I did outside of my subject of study though. It gave me a feel of what to look for if I wanted to deepen my knowledge and the ability to understand what balance sheets and business plans are about. It's not much but better than nothing.

I guess statistics is useful too but all courses even (or maybe especially) outside hard sciences have a course like that.

Cultural Anthropology and its related spin-offs

American Literature, very interesting as we as a country did not really exist until the 17th century. Prior to that we have some accounts of American Indians and early settlers so it included a wide range of American Lit.

Forgot about astronomy. That was a lot of fun actually.

It was probably my favorite. We learned about CCDs, filters, used the university's 16" telescope, calculated orbits using pictures, and took a "field trip" to the state park at night to do some gazing.

The lecture for geology was a bit boring, but we had a great lab TA and learning about rocks is a lot more interesting than I would have thought.

Early American Lit was probably my least favorite, Nathaniel Hawthorne was freaking terrible.

Intro to Political Theory was probably the easiest class, we just read few pages a night, then wrote a paragraph about our thoughts on it. No right or wrong answers. If you did it, you made an A. No exams or anything. We'd just chat in class while the professor played devil's advocate. He was very good about forcing you to challenging your opinions on things.

It would have been Macroeconomics as I was really looking forward to that class. Got in there, got a Harvard Grad that wanted to prove he was better then everyone else and stated "The vast majority of you will get C's, and you will have to bust your ass for that. I have yet to give more then 2-3 A's in any class."

I dropped it the moment I got out.

anytime you come across a person like that you just gotta drop... There's no reason to torture people like that unless you are in a place like Harvard. I comes across some teachers sorta like that in this piddly junior college. I'm at like a 3.2 because I had 9 of my 18 credits last semester with a teacher that simply buried you in homework because she thought thats how people would learn the content properly. I just copy/pasted most of the answers from paragraphs in the book and skipped reading them because I was scanning for answers instead of actually learnign the content.

Teach things fully in class and honestly if they do that you pretty much dont even need a book. I went through my anatomy class without a book because the teacher fully explained everything needed. The tests were really hard and there wasn't ever homework

I really liked social psychology.

Nothing like fucking with people's minds and recording just how fucked up we all are.

I suppose English has helped me with writing skills. That's about it. About to get into my meat and potatoes of a finance degree, I hope I learn something useful.

I took handbuilt ceramics and absolutely loved it. Very fun and zenful sitting there working the clay with your hand to create a pot or sculpture, then getting to fire it in the kiln and keep what you make is a plus. I have all kinds of ceramics around the house that I made.

Not really useful, but history or architecture was a great class. I'm glad I took it pass/fail, but man it completely changed the way I look at buildings everyday.

I don't think I've ever taken a class I haven't found useful/interesting/educating in some way (and I have about 450 semester hours now).

With the right teacher, probably one of the most useful set of classes for anyone in the corporate world.
