I am mad though, he doesn't deserve it.

If I found out that he ate a good candidates spot that'd irritate me just for the fact that there were probably 100 other kids with a better GPA who had all the qualities he had but didn't get in thanks to "unc"

Let's see.... 1530 SATS..... over 1000 hours of community service.... Waitlisted, not rejected on my own merits which would mean I was someone who they deemed qualified for admission if not enough kids accepted admission. Stop being a punk; I'm looking for advice on my future.

1530 SAT doesn't mean as much now that the new SAT is out.

1530/1600, 99th percentile. I feel it is something to be proud of and helped me even be considered for college admission.

yeah, I realize it, but then colleges will also be wondering why you didn't retake the Newer SAT... but read my edited post

Ohhh muffin?

I've scored 790 on the verbal 2 TIMES, thats right 2 TIMES. 99th percentile EACH TIME.

Why did I keep writing? Because I wrote it the first time with a hangover and the 2nd time I had company so I "winged it"

I had a 1420 and 1490, 2190 on the "new sat", i had a 99 percentile verbal 93rd math nad a 97th writing.

Don't go showboating your scores here, I got interviewed by harvard but I was only 16 and gave pompous responses so I got turned down. Don't try comparing your wits with me, you're not on my level.

I didn't evne do community service, I had a 3.3 gpa and I never did homework and My teachers would nag me to go for that 4.0, oh wait and they still wrote GOOD RECS for me?

go to Northwestern. it has a much higher reputation score, and is actually well known internationally, not just in the United States. Chicago is the most beautiful city in the United States.

I don't think any college admissions officer would want to accept you. Colleges want students as part of a community and people, not condenscending asshats

Please PM me if you want to tell me what that meant or would like to discuss who is "better". I'm greatful for everyone's opinions and I will evaluate what people have to say, but not turn this into some sort of academic duel.

Still got interviewed at 16, me > brackis.

Community service means nothing, all the hours are to show colleges you are "their material", Don't tell me he did it out of his own accord because that's BS.

I admire those who do the service for the people, I don't want to be "fake" and pretend I'm doing it for the society when it's just for IVY leagues. I'm not fake, thats why I got an interview, because even though I could have "helped society" by being a "volunteer" it wasn't necessarily work that was for "the people" it was for "insertcollegehere".

Since when did this thread become a d!ck size competition? Never accuse anyone on a 100,000 member message board of not being on your level, or at worse, assuming you are better than anyone else. There are plenty of people here from the top ten universities who have the capabilities (but the decency not to) put you in your place.

Why do I post this? because even as bright as I was and the great promise I showed, I took my denial and waitlists like a MAN.

I didn't ask my psychiatrist uncle who has friends in Cambridge to get me in did I? No I didn't because I play fair.

I dropped out of highschool to work with innercity kids and got my diploma doing night school, and was accepted to a program specificially to go into non-profit management and social policy, so just shut it. On an applicable note, where did you end up at college, did you like your decision?

And, knowing people who go to Brown is actually a con IMO

EDIT: I'd go with Brown, BTW

my philosophy for frats is that i don't need/want to buy friends.

Geezus, get a life. He's getting ahead using his connections. You don't like it? Too bad. People get ahead in life through connections. Get over it. Step up to the plate, loser.

Yes I do, Public university, university of alberta.

I don't like it here for one reason, the competitiveness due to high amounts of people wanting to become doctors after 2nd year, makes me push my @$$ way harder. That's why I applied to brown in th efirst place to get a PLME 2 YEAR/MD 4 year 6 year progra. I still want it.

yeah, why are you posting here? no one cares about you and your scores. brackis is looking for some input in his schools and as much as i ripped him last thread, his concerns are valid. like someone above me said, in a message board of 100k plus, you are nobody. you are king of the nobodies. DevilsAdvocate, just to spout off a name, is 10x the academic you will EVER be (he's the first to come to mind due to recent attention).

Brackis, based on the community, where would you like to go. Since they are differing environments, you'll have to think. It's basically chicago or wherever else ... do you like the metropolitan, city life (NW) or staying relatively close to home (brown). also, ignore all the externalities such as frats or potheads...you can consciounscely and psychologically block them out. you don't have to leave your room or join a frat...that's your choice. they are moot points. go where the environment and prestige looks the best. i'd recommend NW because it's in chicago which would give you more of an opportunity for internships, jobs, or volunteer work. remember, college is just a means to an end. USE the school to secure the job in the long term.

Who has the better program for your interested study?

I had similar dilemma for undergrad back when. My choice was between Northwestern and Wharton @ U Penn. I chose Northwestern.
