I'm from Nebraska. There are no professional teams in the state. Heck, there aren't any professional teams for any sport within 8 driving hours for the most part. Thus college sports are all that anyone seems to care about. I personally didn't pay much attention for many, many years. Then when I was going to get married, I forced myself to watch college football to have at least one thing in common with my father-in-law. I got hooked ever since.Originally posted by: rh71

You have got to be kidding. Flip that around and it's close to correct, though I would still take USC over OU at this point. USC, if they do like last year, will keep getting stronger as the year goes on. And they looked damn good last week. IMO, FSU is a better overall team than Miami. They looked very good against Virginia. Yeah, Miami beat them the first game, but both teams looks total ass in that game and FSU has changed up QBs since that game. Not to mention they seem to have a bit of a mental block when playing Miami. Who the heck has Miami even played other than FSU (a game in which both teams sucked)? Louisville is a good team, but Miami barely won after getting owned for nearly 3 quarters (at home). They would have no hope at all of digging out of a hole against OU or USC. None. They might against Auburn. BTW, Miami is #2 in the BCS.

and although the FSU/miami game was a good game, if you look at the stats miami shut FSU down... that mental block they get while playing miami makes Miami the better team... nobody has beat FSU 6 times in a row during the dominant bowden era, nobody.. its unheard of to do that... and even Chris Rix, he plays great in every game but can't seem to produce against Miami.. you can blame it on rix or you can credit miami.. i credit miami..
and Louisville dominated Miami in the first half in the best game their offense has ever played.. however, the 2nd half was all Miami's.... the defense finally stepped up as did the offense..
i just hope that Miami plays either USC or OU in the nat'l championship and the other team has to play FSU.. both OU and USC will lose if that's the case...

They will likely see the Canes get their first "L" of the season. They can forget scoring 40+ pts on the Wolfpack defense.
Whoa dude..don't say sh!t like that. Might jinx it.

Auburn is a better team than Miami. The Canes have been unimpressive all season. Their only convincing wins came against sub-par opponents (I think the FSU team that's playing right now could beat Miami). Auburn beat the defending co-national champs (who seem to be a bit schitzo this year) and UT in Neyland (a very tough place to play).
Miami's play has been lackluster pretty much all season while Auburn seems to be improving from week to week.
It would have certainly been a more interesting and evenly matched game. To be honest, I think nearly any meeting between the two in recent years is a toss-up. Last four meetings, dating back to 2002:Originally posted by: abracadabra1
as a fellow canes fan...i think that if wyatt sexton had played instead of chris rix, miami would have lost by ~7-10 points (even considering the orange bowl 'mystique')

Auburn beat the defending co-national champs in a game that should have gone into overtime (auburn got two lucky breaks, a missed extra point by lsu, then a second extra point attempt to end the game).. besides, that, lsu has been less than impressive this year.. getting blown out by georgia, losing to auburn, and also should have lost to oregon state at the begininng of the season.. (3 extra missed points)...
i'll give auburn credit for taking it to UT at Neyland but Tenessee is another team that should have two losses this year.. (if you watched the fla/ten game you know what i'm talking about)...
and for you to say miami has been lackluster all season just isn't true.. they had two close games and the other three were blowouts.. both close games were with ranked opponents.. (one blowout against Ga Tech who will be ranked by the end of the season)...

2 lucky breaks against LSU? I'll give them 1 break (the penalty) but to say making the extra point after the penalty was a lucky break is just ignorant. Auburn missed it's first PAT in 209 attempts this past week.
Blowouts: LaTech...these guys are a perenial homecoming team for BCS conference teams, Houston...when's the last time Houston has been a power player?, GaTech...may be ranked by the end of the year...we'll see.
Miami has a decent team but be realistic. They've got a good defense, an irregular (at best) QB and a pretty good back (Gore?). I'll even give Miami the benefit of the doubt against FSU because that's a rivalry game so it should be close. But to believe that they are a better team (right now) than Auburn is just foolish. Auburn's got 2 fantastic RBs, a QB who seems to be clicking with his OC (better season stats than Jason White), a pretty good OL and a defense that hasn't given up a rushing touchdown yet.

I hate the SEC and there is no doubt in my mind that Auburn would beat Miami right now.
None of this matters right now anyways. If Miami's D plays like they did against Louisville, they won't be undefeated for long.

Some starters were still playing at the end of the first half when it Arkansas made it 30-7.

Whatever.. If you watched that game, you know that Auburn dominated.
Final scores are not always indicative of how a game went.
