College rant: Rejected from UCSD =(

I am very angry and frustrated. UCSD was my dream school. I visited it a couple times and I had my heart set to it. I don't understand why they rejected me. FVCK. My majors were Biotech and Biochem. But I was sure I would get in for BioChem since it's not impacted and go on as pre-med.
Well FvCK me! I got into UCLA, USC and UCI but I can't believe I didn't get SD. Unbelievable

I'm in Bioengineering @ UCSD. Recently the biotech/eng field has gotten a lot of attention... its pretty impacted. You'll be great. Take care.

i'm sorry you got rejected. it sounded like you chose a very difficult major to accept you in and weighed your application against the others that applied for the same major.

it happens though - i know someone that got into UCLA and not into davis.

go to UCLA. its a great school.

hmm...let's see...ucsd is far younger than UCLA yet ranked only like 2 spots behind UCLA by USNews. We're catching up..better watch your back.

The one thing that is holding UCSD back in the ratings is their athletics. UCSD is strictly an academic school, and as young as it is, it's pretty impressive

As a biased UCSD grad, I agree. If college football is really that important to somebody, chances are they either don't belong at UCSD or won't enjoy it.

Save $$$, do what some of my friends did and go to a 2 year college then transfer. I hear its alot easier to get into the schools you want if your a transfer.

Get over it. It's not the end of the world. It is what you make of your college experience, not where you are.

You know, you can always prove yourself in college and go to UCSD for graduate school.

when did you hear from them? i haven't heard yet, which probably means i didn't get in, but i'd at least like to hear that rather than nothing... yeah i'm pissed about college acceptances, too.. i got rejected from UCSB and i wanted to go there a good deal... i'm appealing that decision, and i think i have a good shot at it... but does anyone have any links to any stats/info on appeals to ucsb or UC's otherwise? thanks, i'd appreciate it...

i say they're similar...just that we don't concentrate on sports...quiet campus....

but subwrx...no worries, just goto ucla or something...it's a great school also,....just study hard, and maybe transfer over....and besides, wherever u go, u'll be happy w/ it....

mmm... there is no pre-med major. Basically it's just a bunch of classes you take. It's pretty similar at any school (what classes you have to take) since med schools have certain requirements. Like most schools those "pre-med" classes will be filled with people who're stressing and uber competitive.

In any case, I doubt one school will give you a significant advantage over the other (and no..not even Cal will give you a significant advantage). It's all about the GPA + MCAT + Extracurriculars if you want to get into med school.
