College Rings

I just bought my 2xCollege Rings this afternoon. The reason for buying 2 is that I go to Virginia Tech and am in the Corps of Cadets. It is traditional to buy a nice ring (Gold, Stone, etc) and then what is known as a "Battle Ring" which is worn around when you are in situations that would ding up or hurt your nice ring.

I know that this is a big tradition at most Military schools however I was wondering what about the rest of the college world. Here at VT it's pretty much known that while civilians may buy the rings, in general they won't wear them for nearly as long or as devoutly as a cadet.

None here. I went to Mich. Tech and while I enjoyed my time there, no way I'd get a ring.

The only way I would even think of getting a ring is if I graduated from MIT. Since that will probably never happen, I will never get one.

I had a high school ring. That was cheesy enough for me. I don't have any college/grad. rings but did pay a lot of money for a special diploma frame however.

I dont own a college ring, and I dont own a high school ring. A degree is all I need from college. Besides, the school Im going to for graduate school is different from my undergraduate school. So which one do I choose?

Men should only wear maaaybe a wedding ring if your wife forces you, or a Superbowl ring. That's pretty much it.

Nope. I wasn't exactly short on money, but it still seemed like a waste to me. Then again, I also skipped my graduation to go out drinking with my parents.

yep. The nonregs all usually buy one as well, all of my friends bought them and only a couple were in the Corps. I wear mine pretty much daily.

Clemson University. Almost everyone who graduates from Clemson gets one.....

I think a lot has to do with how strong your alumni ties are. Clemson grads look out for other Clemson grads.
