Some people really enjoy wearing their ring dependent on the attitude of alumni. It can be 'fun' to be recognized by a total stranger in some other place and time that went to the same university as you did.

How about a Pro Football Hall of Fame ring? I noticed that on a guy I was working with at a local 4x4 shop. Turns out, he played for the 1972 Dolphins and is in the HOF. Pretty damn cool ring...

Alright, a Football Hall of Fame ring is pretty cool too. But there are pretty good odds that if you're reading Anandtech you probably don't have either one. Getting up from the computer to get a fresh bag of Cheetos and a Coke is not going to get us any hall of fame rings.

You could always buy one. Rumor has it that Joe Namath sold his for $500.00 in the 1970's. Though you could not get one for such a great price nowadays, they can certainly be had for enough money.
