It's the complete lack of compassion that I find upsetting.

If there wasn't stories of brutal beatings, rapes, and murders every day (with many not resulting in life sentences), then maybe a story like this one would register a bit higher. As is, I can't muster up a care for a moderately disturbed young lady missing a legal abortion by a few months. The life sentence strikes me as a purely emotional reaction to the "innocence of a child" or some such nonsense. So I hope the appeal is successful, and she gets a more fitting sentence.

Actually, shorty is 100% correct. If you are against being a parent to the point that you would abort, or in this case murder and toss your newborn into a dumpster, then the very least you can do is use birth control.

Abortion should absolutely remain legal, but something as simple as a condom would make probably 80% or more of abortions unnecessary. Sex without birth control is effectively asking for a kid. If you don't understand this you are too stupid for sex.
