Hi all,

I have around 4 years old bike in a bad condition.
Both tyres are flat and need to do some repair on it so I can use it again.
I need some advice whether go buy a new bike or repair my old bike.

Is walmart sell a bike tyre?
if so how much?

If want to buy a new bike, get it online, go to walmart/target or buy @ local bike shop?

Thanks.

A tire and a tube should cost less than $20 from a bike shop.
You might have trouble fixing it yourself unless you know what you're doing.

I'd recommend taking your bike in for a tune up as well, especially if it hasn't been used for a while. The gears and brakes will need some attention and it could be dangerous riding it around in poor condition.

Tune up should be $40-50.

Then again, Wal-mart and Target sell new bikes for just a little bit more than that.

Thanks.

SuperGo has/had clearance sales on 2001 GT models. I picked up a full suspension i-Drive for $430 shipped ($700 bike).

They also had a hardtail for $350-ish I think.

I'm sure they have other deals as well, but that's what I jumped on.

Always wanted a full suspension GT.

Walmart now carries Schwinn bikes

They have the Schwinn name but they are RoadMaster (total crap!). Pacific bought GT and Schwinn (they also own RoadMaster) and have now decied to put the Schwinn name on any crap they have. Kind of like Deawoo making a car and calling is a Cadillac. If you go to a REAL bike shop you will see they are not a Schwinn.

Support you local bike shop, you find for a little more $$ you get alot more after the sale. (not to mention a better bike!)

If the bike has been left outside for 4 years, I wouldn't spend any more money on it UNLESS it was an expensive bike to begin with.

Might as well buy a new bike.

Look for a light weight frame as that will most impact your riding if you are using the bike to get around campus. A good derailer and shifter set will be the next thing to look for. Followed by wheels (light weight).

Buying a midrange bike will probably cost you about $350 which you may not want to spend IF the bike is going to be exposed to a lot of weather (rain and snow) and potential theft.

umm you can but tubes for 2.95$ at my local place with either style valve. they cost like 4$ at dicks. if you need a new rim that will cost more a bunch more. a decent rim will run you at least 50$. (my roomin just dropped 200$ on new rims) then you gotta get a hub if it dosent allready have one. then teh spokes need to be installed. all thsi can be done yourself with trh right tools. but im guessin you dont have them so go to a local bike place or dicks theyll fix it for you

pecel,

1) What is your budget (how much can you afford) for a new or used bike?
2) What are the names of the 2 largest newspapers in your city?

First of all welcome to the USA I hope you're enjoying your stay here. Your English isn't that bad, I've seen, read and heard worse.

I highly doubt you're going to find a good bike for around $100 online esp after factoring in shipping/taxes.

Check your local newspaper's classifieds ads section for The Daily Oklahoman and Norman Transcript.

If you find nothing there check out your local bike shops which you can find in the Yellow Pages (or here) and I mean real bike shops, not Target, Walmart or KMart.

Best of luck!

I would recommend getting a very, very good lock since bike theft on college campuses is pretty rampant.

You should get a bicycle lock that comes with a chain or cable. The lock itself should be a "U" shaped lock.

I recommend the company called "kyrptonite". They make good locks.

I second that opinion.

I would also think about upgrading your bike. I went to ISU and there were stairs everywhere. no fricking ramps unless I wanted to go way out of my way. i always went down the stairs on my bike, and ended up bending a rim.

Over here, everyone buys bikes off of junkies. Its kinda funny to pay 5 euro for a bike and another 60 euro's on locks
