A MONTH of sick days a year?! Wow, I bet productivity is through the roof!
You need a doctor's note to use 5 consecutive sick days. You can also use it if a family member is sick.
21 days vacation time per year too.
I don't know what productivity is like, but we get everything done that needs to be done. If you look at Europe, they get similar vacation and sick time, and they're more productive than Americans. The reason it seems like a lot of time to you is that Americans and Japanese are conditioned to believe 12 days PTO per year is normal.

I've only ever had a weeks vacation, and that only at about half the places I've worked. I've only ever had sick days at one place I've worked, and we received 1 per month. For a LARGE number of Americans PTO is a fantasy.
So American workers work more hours and produce more, and what is their reward? Falling real wages, disappearance of the middle class, less and less job security, disappearing pensions... That's called exploitation. The Man owns the American worker.
All the increased productivity has gone into increased benefits instead of wages. Look up the employee cost index if you don't believe me.
Employee compensation (wages+benefits) have kept up with the productivity growth of the US worker.
The question comes to mind...are people using their benefits to the fullest or should some of it be switched to wages?
Increased Benefits? You mean all those benefits that have been gradually reduced over the last few decades?
Maybe you should unionize.
