I heard it while watching the game. I figure it was just a glitch in the CBS feed of the audio though, not actually audible in the stadium.

I thought it was kind of funny how often the commentators would say things like "The people here keep up the energy and noise all game long" and "The crowd is well trained" and stuff like that whenever they'd get loud during the Pat offensive plays. I didn't personally hear that skipping part, I was watching but not paying that close attention to it. Very subtle way of cheating if that's what it was though, but still technically against the rules.

So what do you think will happen?

Honestly I don't know. The NFL is already looking into it, I don't know how hard it would be to try and track down if it was a local thing, or if it was a problem with CBS' broadcast, but people in the stadium were reporting it as well, not just on the TV broadcast.

most likely a glitch in the guys DVR or such.

if it was true you would be hearing about it on the news. i watched the game and nobody heard it.

It is on the news, it's already been reported to the NFL, they're already investigating. It can't be his DVR, how could it screw up the background audio, but with the commentator sounding perfectly fine? They don't stream all of the individual sound channels like that, everything would've been screwed up then. It could definitely be a problem with CBS though, with that one stream before it got mixed into the broadcast, or it could be something their mics picked up from the dome itself.

as i said it didn't happen when we were watching it. so who knows what it was.

UNTIL it is confirmed they cheated i will give them the benifit of the doubt. to many things could be go wrong.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they were cheating for sure either. There's so many different technical things involved in a huge stadium like that, I'm sure there's a bunch of ways something like could happen. I'm just saying that because you didn't hear it doesn't mean it didn't happen, and that people in the stadium heard the same thing. I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually, in the meantime life will go on, and nobody will care that much, because crowd noise or not the Colts are still a pretty badass team.

egh, they always do. I hate watching CBS football, the audio is always fuzzy or switching in and out of DD (which causes my receiver to make a loud click and be silent for a second)...yesterday during the early games there were weird lines on the screen too. Their HD feed is awful.

It isn't....but broadcasting crowd noise from the stadium speakers is.

Most likely that was simply an audio track/mic that crapped out. This is typical Bush administration method tho...when you lie and cheat and get busted for it...attack the credibility of the opposing party, so I find it ironic that the colts are being called cheaters after the Patriots get busted for cheating.

In fact, at other times their video studdered...perhaps we weren't watching the outcome of the real game, but one that 'others' wanted us to think was real.

In fact, in reality I'll bet the colts actually won!!

Whether it's a broadcasting glitch or really something more nefarious is a fair question, but there's more than one source with the same audio problem.

Doesn't matter if there's more than one person's DVR. They all go the same signal. If that signal itself was messed up at the stadium when it was broadcast, that'd explain it.

If I were the Patriots, I wouldn't give two shits about the crowd noise, I'd be filing complaints over that ridiculous pass interference call on Ellis Hobbs and then the offensive pass interference call on Moss.

edit: plus, is it really that unreasonable that the Patriots would complain considering the Colts were caught doing this last year?

That is a lie. Ed Werder tried to make an issue of it, NFL investigated, Colts were cleared, just as they were again this year.

It's probably a pro-Colts conspiracy though, right? And the Colts and the refs just let the Pats* win on purpose to make it all believable.

Colts cleared of cheating against Patriots

BY BOB GLAUBER | bob.glauber@newsday.com
2:17 PM EST, November 5, 2007

Newsday has learned that the NFL's investigation into complaints from the Patriots that the Colts had illegally piped in crowd noise is over. It didn't take the league long to find out that the Colts were not at fault for a crowd noise issue.

"CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts game was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast," NFL vice president Greg Aiello tells us. "It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium."

According to a report on Yahoo.com, the NFL opened an investigationg after the Patriots complained of loud noise in the RCA Dome during Sunday's matchup of undefeated teams in Indianapolis.

The accusations were apparently made after some observed a "skip" in the sound during the game, which New England won, 24-20.

The Patriots have already been on the opposite end of their own cheating scandal this year, when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell found that they had illegally taped hand signals on the Jets sideline during the teams' Week 1 matchup. Head coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000 and the team was fined $250,000 and forced to forfeit a draft pick as punishment.

The Colts were blamed last year for pumping crowd noise into the stadium when the oppositions offense was on the field to make it difficult to hear other players on the field. The league looked into it and cleared the Colts.

Got ya

Thanks for that. Someone should put that in the OP in case others don't already know what happened.

Pretty stupid claim IMHO. If they were gonna do it, they would just amplify the existing crowd noise (which is what they were accused of doing during the Colts-Steelers AFC championship game a few years back)

That's pretty retarded. Regardless, I don't think that it was some cd skipping, probably the audio taken from the sound inside of the stadium had some type of glitch.

Even if this is so....this is against league policy. Taking any noise, amplyfing through speakers is against the policy.

I was listening to the sports radio broadcast this morning, and they played back the Patriots & Colts respective local radio affiliate broadcasts.... on the youtube video & CBS playback you can hear it, but on the radio broadcasts you couldn't... so yeah, it was a glitch on CBS.

Seriously. There's no way that either of those calls were even remotely justified. I can't believe the Pats aren't talking about it, and more, the NFL should be talking about it because the officials just can not make calls like that that clearly will affect the outcome of the game.
