The guy was deported twice and came back twice. I understand that we need a realistic path to citizenship for many that are here, but we do need stronger border security too. This guy shouldn't have been here, he shouldn't have been driving drunk.

However what is the data on percentage of immigrant population that are drunk drivers vs US citizen population that are drunk drivers? I bet you its not even close. Immigrants do bad things but you can't base policy based on one case of this or that. Its the rates that matter. Right now the US has a military base in japan that is facing a lot of heat over a drunk driving incident involving military members. But it's not without merit because the data suggested the military had a huge problem with alcohol abuse and drunk driving and they actually took the step of banning all alcohol use from service members in that region.

The point is its not reasonable to say if a drunk driver is an immigrant, kick them all out but if the drunk driver is a US citizen then its cool and has absolutely nothing to do with his culture or background.

Yearly gun deaths are also about 300% higher than drunk driving deaths so after he tackles secondhand smoking he better get to work on regulating guns.

Drunk driving is a huge issue and I'd like to see more done about it... but it isn't as big of a partisan selling point as something like guns. But even more so in this case is the fact that this guy shouldn't have even been on our soil to drive drunk.
