I know Columbia is ultra liberal, but is it so ultra liberal it will change its curriculum to help this girl succeed?
MIT wouldn't be bad. But I was taking those free online courses and with the Intro. in Computer Science the professor just had to share a John Stewart clip about Ted Stevens I think it was and how he said the Internet was like a series of pipes.
A) Fuck John Stewart
and
B) Who fucking cares what an old man thinks about the Internet.
In a way, it is like pipes when you think about it. And all the valves could be like ports.
It's that little crap that irks me.
I wonder what the backlash would be if I were the professor and played a clip from FoxNews? LOL!
The depth of your skin could be measured in microns.
So If the professor played a FoxNews clip the same could be said? Works both ways and I see the butt hurt anti-FoxNews idiots on the Internet all the time.
Some special snowflake was offended because of a free yoga class
http://www.ottawasun.com/2015/11/20/free-ottawa-yoga-class-scrapped-over-cultural-issues
'Student leaders have pulled the mat out from 60 University of Ottawa students, ending a free on-campus yoga class over fears the teachings could be seen as a form of "cultural appropriation."'
the point of that anecdote that you mention wasn't political--it was simply humor.
You made it political by associating it with Jon Stewart, whom you see as some sort of villain. The amount of butthurt you experienced is only self-inflicted because, as I said, you are thin-skinned and humorless.
And yes, the reaction as you assume, would be quite different had it been Fox news, because conservative content has no humor. It seems that today's conservatives are just humorless, bitter old men.

It only took me 35 posts in this thread to remember why I never come to ATOT anymore. *claps*

This reminded me of this thread:
I've been swimming my whole life on club teams, and swim in college now, but while I'm home I like to stay loose. Was getting in some laps, when this rather rotund woman physically stops me in the middle of my workout, only to tell me that I shouldn't swim so fast because it made her feel oppressed that there was someone going faster than her, and felt like she had to compete or some bullshit. Ok, I'm not one to rant, but this shit is ridiculous. She was saying that I can't go fast, because it wan't fair that I was in better shape than her. WHAT?! I had to take a step back. Is this a thing now? People aren't allowed to be in good shape, in case they make out of shape people feel bad? I did my best to tell her to fuck off, in a nice way, and then went even faster. Honestly made me wanna work out harder. I can't stand these entitled people nowadays. Sorry for the rant. Carry on everyone.

Can't we all just be happy to know that students at Columbia can read? Regardless of what grade level it's at?
"Diversity" is a code word for black supremacy. I heard some douchebag on the radio talking about a "diverse" school in some hellhole. The demographics was 90%+ black, ~6% Latino, and the rest other. The definition of "diverse" has changed since I was in school...
Preach on dude...preach on. And why you're at it get the fuck off my lawn!
Old man....
You assume it's just Columbia. Can't we all just be happy to know that students at Columbia can read? Regardless of what grade level it's at?
Chinese and Asians were never enslaved except some isolated 'tantamount-to-slavery' cases, mostly by their own. Chinese owned hundreds of successful businesses even as far as the Western frontier in the 1800s, were not only permitted to cater to whites and compete directly with white-owned businesses, but could cater to wealthy whites. They were not prohibited from reading and writing (unless they converted to Christianity), not stripped of their own cultures and religion. They could come and go, maintain ties to their homeland, knew where they were from, sent and received mail. The "orientals" were always portrayed as having a civilized and literate society, as being "productive", while anything having to do with African societies or cultures was portrayed as being sub-human, animal-like, primitive, non-productive. Literacy and education usually worked for Asians. It did NOT work for slaves or their descendants.

Heh... now our standards are so low that basic literacy... in college is to be congratulated.
Vonnegut was a f***ing prophet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Bergeron
yep, nailed it
Awwwww, you got irked from a free online course given by friggen MIT. It's okay though, you are still special snowflake. Maybe if you work hard enough you can free the world from all the "irks" that major institutions give people from their freaking free online classes.
I think toilet paper is cheaper than tissues to wipe those tears if you need the bulk that it appears you do.
