I just got a new IMAP email account @ my domain and I'm no longer using my old email address. I still need the old messages though. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to copy/move over the downloaded messages from my old POP3 email to the new email's IMAP server. Is this possible at all?

Can I simply drag the messages into the IMAP folders and it will copy them over?

If nothing else, you can always FWD messages from any account to your new IMAP account.

That wouldn't work. If I forward the messages, all the emails would say they came from the same address at the same time. I need the original email addresses and dates preserved.

I think what youre asking for isn't possible. However, if you've got a mail client then why not just store the email you want saved into a personal folder named "my old email"? As far as saving it on another mail server, I just don't see how that can get done without forwarding it. If you are worried about having the date and time stamps, when you forward it the headers will show the date and time and whom the email came from in the body of the email.

Just to update. My idea ended up working fine. I downloaded all the mail via POP3 and then dragged the messages into the IMAP folders and it worked perfectly.

if you are using Microsoft outlook, you can export the emails from your other emails account(your pop3 account) to a pst file. Then just import the pst file into your imap account on outlook
