NH was a no go for me.
They said it was a 3rd party deal and only for non internet customers only.
Can't wait for FIOS. If it ever shows up here.

First of all, this has been known for years that you can call Comcast and possibly get a temporary promotion so if this is news to you it's time to catch up. Secondly, I know they recently relaxed some of the restrictions regarding posting coupon codes and such here but when the hell did it become acceptable to directly link to thread on FW? Seems a little inappropriate if you ask me.

Maybe I should have just posted the info as if I made it up, instead I linked to FW as to give someone else credit, would that have prevented you from crapping on this thread that so far has helped many people? So far you are the only one whose complained, and I've not recieved a PM or email from a mod saying my posting a link was wrong. Anandtech is not the only site out there that provides useful info regarding good deals to find.
May I ask why this bothers you? Second, if people are not aware of a current deal or promo, how would they in your mind find out about it? Just randomly call from time to time to find out if something is available? In my opinion your post was inappropriate, either that or your a Comcast hater. Lighten up a little..

Well, first things first I do hate Comcast but probably no more than 95% of their subscribers. I've suffered through their monopoly and price increases as many here have though I've been able to get discounts like this off and on for several years now. None of that is relevant to this discussion though. In fact, the whole nature of the deal is irrelevant...it's all in how it was delivered.
FWIW, yes, calling from time to time works great. This isn't a new thing that they're running right now. I called back in March and got the $20/mo HSI and free HBO for 6 months. I've gotten free HSI for 6 months, $20/mo for a year and various other discounts in the past. Often you have to threaten to cancel but sometimes you can get a cool rep on the phone who will just give you whatever the system allows them.
By directly linking to FW w no other input you're discounting the value of Anandtech. People often post the details of a deal with 'credit due to bob @ fw' or something to that effect which is perfectly fine. You're saying 'go to fatwallet to find the details of this deal' and driving traffic to their website away from Anandtech which is a completely different thing. In regards to Hot Deals, FW is a competing site and at points in the past it was taboo to even acknowledge their existance here. I stand by my statement that your post was inappropriate and should be edited to include the details of the deal and credit due to the person who originally posted it without the link elsewhere. I'm not losing any sleep over this but when something is rotten in Denmark it should be called out.
Well, I appreciate mrphones' thread here AND the link to the thread at FW. I was able to read more about the success and failure rates from the group of posters here AND the posters there. Also, I rarely get over to FatWallet (there I said it) but I constantly check out the HD forum here.Originally posted by: SoulAssassin

OK. Just got off the phone with three different CSRs. All three pretty much told me the same thing but the second CSR (Diane) was the most helpful.Originally posted by: Treyshadow

Smoochy were you able to get Comcast to give a good ol Houstonian the benefit of not being a Time warner slave anymore?
I am just looking for a reason to call the CSRs.
