which internet are you on?

Local Monopoly Internet.

I could get 1mbit cable for the same price, but then I take an even WORSE ping cut. (~20ms more anywhere)

got this deal in SF (going to cancel phone line (~$35/mo) and $10 dialup internet) to save a few bucks and get better pings. so far so good. thanks blacklit - tried to give you + rating, but not enabled.

also, be advised that you need to "register" the modem using their crappy/buggy winblows install CD. You may want to ensure you are using the same NIC you will be using to connect with regularly (Comcast is reported to note the MAC address & bind to the connection)(or just spoof the MAC).

Try calling up comcast and find out for yourself. Much better than waiting for almost a month for an answer.
