Comcast increasing upstream from 128kbps to 256kbps

From what ive heard from my brother, who is using comcast cable back at home, is that he got a letter in the mail that they are upgrading our upstream by 100%.

originally they offered 1.5mbps/128kbps for $40 (optional $5 for modem rental)...now they are offering 1.5mbps/256kbps for $40. Looks good to me.

my brother is using comcast outside philly...(im in NYC with earthlink cable)...

if my brother wasnt such a LAZY SOB then i would have a scan available.

I asked him to scan it and he said "no, too lazy..." so you will have to wait for another some odd hours to find out what the letter holds.

That 148 seems way out of place.

i have comcast and get 286 on that test. i'm in richmond, va, it should be 256 the slackers.

Probably a regional deal. Here in central NJ it's still 1.5/128k. Right now I am getting about 1.7 and 80k

yea, in central jersey i get great download speeds at 1.5mb minimum, uploads kinda suck at 128kb max

i got a little more info out of my brother...

He said something like it wont take effect until the price of service per month increases to $42.95...

Then a number was thrown out, something like 11 months? I dont know...
Youse guys might want to call up comcast and find out when they are increasing charge to $42.95, and you will have you answer as to when you will get 256kbps upstream.

If u would have bought a non supported modem to use on cablevision like a Toshiba, they coudlnt and wouldnt have capped you!
Besides you got capped at 12-150Kbps, that still aint too bd considering download is 8000+ kbps!!!
