...and I can go an entire month without it cutting out. Seems like other things also suck in your neighborhood along with Comcast.

Got bumped up from 5000/768 to 15,000/2000 here in CT on CoxHSI. Same price - $49 or something.

It flies but, most of the servers I go to download something from aren't as fast as I am.

It's upgraded. I'm doing 8-9 down, up from 6-7.

Your nick suits you well.

Of course nobody needs >2Mb download speeds. It's simply a luxury, but it's one that many people enjoy and have come to depend on. If u don't know for what they use all their bandwidth for, then maybe you should educate yourself.

But yes, i definitely agree that ALL BROADBAND PROVIDERS NEED TO WORK ON INCREASING THEIR UPLOAD SPEEDS. Many applications depend on it, eg VoIP (which uses 70-100Kbps per call), server hosting, p2p'ing, online gaming, personal file uploading via email or FTP or whatever. Moreover, the bigger the upload pipe, the more of these apps u can multitask with. Common sense really. But i guess in this day and age there's just not too much common sense out there. Shame.

Bah! Everytime this thread gets bumped, I get all excited, thinking I got a free speed bump coming. Then I realize it's the same thread I read 3 months ago.

Well my point was that one can never have enough bandwidth, as there will always be applications that can take advantage of it. I come across a lot of n00b peole who don't realize this, or refuse to accept it.

And yeah, it's definitely all just business from the providers' point of view.

Yeah I agree on the upgrading the upload speed. Whenever I have more than 2 torrents going, I intermittently lose my AIM connection and the browser stops working for 30 seconds here and there. I can't stand this, I wonder if it has to do with Comcast, or just the torrents sucking all my upload bandwidth?

Comcast is testing a 16/1 package in a few areas as well. Should be 1.5 up IMO but whatever.

Well Torrents depend on upload more than download, so they probably do it this way to limit use.

Still 4000/384 in northern Indiana.

I've only lost service twice in 3 years though. Even then, one was only for an hour or two, and the second for two days.

I tried to upgrade for 3 hours today. I have the basic (local) channels and that's it. They told me I'd have to pay $10/month more plus $50 more for "expanded basic" or whatever. I told them to cancle my service. I now run DSL with 896 up. The upload is all I wanted.
