Comcast to move to 8Mbps

I hate comcast. My cousin can't even use all of his speed or else they will kill his line. Why the hell do they give you the speed if you can't use it all the time?

Perfectly said. Your average consumer doesn't care for all that speed. Even I don't and I dL a LOT.

Comcast is losing a LOT of ppl to Verizon with their simple 3mbs/768k for $19.99 introductory and $29.99 for life.

Right click my netowrk places, properties, right click your connection, properties, highlight internet protocol (TCP/IP), click properties, click the use the following DNS server adress thing. There servers are 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2. Have fun!

cable companies increasing downloads = who cares?

Lower the prices and increase the upload...I'm never reasonably going to be able to saturate more than a 1mb line for any sustainable period of time here at home anyway.

My Comcast has cut out on me twice in 5 years. Very reliable, fast, and excellent pings! And this has been at 2 different houses.

You also should be able to change your routers DHCP settings so it'll toss those out instead of the ones it picks up from your provider.

I don't play CS but I get pings in the 20's and 30's for Call of Duty, UT2004, and Q3. My Comcast is very good to me.

You probably need to look into a new modem. I want a new modem to see if I can up the speed(currently 4Mbps+ but I think I am at this modems limit).

this "increase" is nothing than a big ripoff !

People who had 6MB/786 earlier got DOWNGRADED and now only get 384 up but pay the SAME - if they want to have their 786 upspeed back they need to get the most expensive package.

Also...dont get me wrong....more downspeed is nice, but upspeed is more important.
I for my part wont really care at all whether i get 6MB down or 8MB down.

For their 6Mb speed, they need to increase the paltry 384Kb up. I pay $60 for 6Mb/768Kb right now, and it's too much. I just can't bring myself to pay for slower speed though .

It doesn't work that way. Although the line itself may be able to carry 30 mbps+, their backbone/switching equipment is the bottleneck, not the cable itself.
