Cape Cod, MA area has been upgraded (at least Mashpee has)

D/L coming in at a steady 3300 kbps

Edit: Wow, downloading the directx sdk from microsft comes in at a steady 400 KB/sec !!

I tried their phone support and on-line chat....both people said basically the same thing.... "what the h*ll r u talking about?" or "...oh yeah, that would be nice...if it were true"

I have a buddy of mine that is a manager at Comcast. I asked him directly, and he said the speed increase will likely hit the Seattle area in early February. So...it's CONFIRMED!

I hope the customer support guy was just lying to me, because I cannot wait that long. Heck, he probably was; lol.

You know.. My internet speed is fast enough. Sure, a speed increase would be nice, but...

What really pisses me off is that I have experienced a ton of problems with my internet in the past month or so. Either really slow speeds or service outages which sometimes require me to unplug my modem and reboot everything. This happened again this morning. I was without internet until a few hours ago. Comcast=Suck as far as I'm concerned.

yea there also overpriced too, the problem is there are a lot of areas where there is no other high speed service...

I've had the exact opposite experience, ever since comcast took over for ATTBI in SoCal I have had zero problems.

It is overpriced (~$60/mo) and it's the only local provider so I'm stuck anyway.

All this speed stuff is pretty tricky. I use Road Runner from Time Warner cable of Orange, CA, and they recently bumped speed, BUT it doesn't seem to stay at the max rate for more than about 10 minutes.

I was using newsbin pro to download a iso from one of the binary news groups, and initially my speed went up to 285 k bytes per second, but after about 300 MB it shifted down to 75 k bytes/sec, and didn't change speed until I stopped the download for a min and restarted. Then it slowed down again after another 300 MB or so.

Damn, they upped my cap about 2 weeks ago (this was in central NJ), but, as others have complained about, for the last few days, my internet has been slow as s***. How long did this last for you guys?

Mine has been really bad for the last month or two as well. Exactly as you describe it.

I don't know if this would help you, but if you're having problems even on off peak (peak being weekdays after 6pm, weekends, and sundays being the worst) You might want to try another cablemodem to see if this solves the problem. I had tons of PL, the cablemodem would release the DHCP then I'd start getting really bad pings. I reset my cablemodem, called mediaone/at&t(this problem went on for years) had them switch me to different nodes, nothing was working. I finally got pissed off enough and went and bought my own cablemodem(as they would not replace mine until it was completely dead), I've never had the same problems since. I still get PL (during peak times), but no where near as bad as I did all day long...

I believe almost all cable companies to compete with dsl (against their price reduction).
